()

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider acquiring property that is in a floodplain when they meet Monday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Properties on Rogers Street and Fremont Avenue adjacent to the Big Quilcene River are prone to flooding.

The county would buy the land, remove buildings from it and restore it to riparian conditions.

The cost of the purchase is $690,965, which includes $103,646 in matching funds acquired from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office.

The item is on the consent agenda and will not be discussed unless requested by a commissioner, a staff member or a member of the public.

Additional items on the consent agenda include:

■ A $232,600 contract with Stripe Rite Inc. of Sumner for pavement marking on county roads.

■ Agreements to allocate lodging tax funds of $9,574 to the Quilcene Historical Museum and $1,700 to the Jefferson County Historical Society Gateway Visitor Center.

■ An agreement to allocate $3,024 of Community Service Grant Funding to the Gardiner Community Center.

■ An agreement to pay $300 per month to Granicus to acquire “Speak Up” software, which allows the county to poll the public about various issues.
