EYE ON JEFFERSON: County considers transportation plan

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a hearing prior to considering adoption of the 2021-2026 Six-year Transportation Improvement program when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The public hearing will be at 10:30 a.m. At 9:45 a.m., commissioners will hear a report on COVID-19 from Dr. Tom Locke, county health officer. Commissioners also will discuss proceeding with the right-of-way acquisition for the Olympic Discovery Trail, Four Corners Road to Anderson Lake State Park segment. They also will continue deliberation on the planning commission’s 2020 Docket of Annual Comprehensive Plan Amendments at 11 a.m. Items on the consent agenda include a deed of right for the Fitzgerald property, affirmation of the recommendations of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and a one-year lease extension for use of West End’s Clearwater Annex.

Collaborative panel

The Intergovernmental Collaborative Committee will hear a lecture on community economics from Michael Shuman when it meets at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The ICC panel is composed of two members of each of four entities: Jefferson County Commission, Port Townsend City Council, the Port of Port Townsend and Jefferson County Public Utility District. The panel is working with community task forces to create a Consolidated Recovery and Resiliency Plan to be recommended to the Intergovernmental Collaborative Group (ICG), made up of all members of the four entities.
