EYE ON JEFFERSON: County considers Olympic Discovery Trail segment

The three Jefferson County commissioners will be briefed on the project to develop the Olympic Discovery Trail between South Discovery Bay and the Larry Scott Trail when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Commissioners also will consider updates to the county personnel administration manual and hear a presentation on the 2020 census.

They will provide input on a draft public nuisance ordinance. Items on the consent agenda include:

• A collective bargaining agreement with Jefferson County Central Services employees.

• Assistance from the state Military Department program for 9-1-1 calls originating in Jefferson County.

• Lodging tax grants to The Chamber of Jefferson County, the Quilcene Historical Museum and the Jefferson County Fair Association.

• A hearing notice of 10 a.m. June 10 on the final docket for the Comprehensive Plan amendment cycle.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will consider an agreement establishing the Peninsula Regional Transportation Planning Organization when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

An executive session is scheduled to discuss the qualifications of an applicant for public employment.

The council also will consider approving a letter of support for the Jefferson County Public Utility District to join Tree Line USA.

Other city committee meetings are:

• Council Rules Committee — 10 a.m. Thursday, council chambers; special meeting

• Planning Commission — 6:30 p.m. Thursday, council chambers.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will consider climate mitigation and adaption and stormwater rate increases when they meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be in chambers at 333 Benedict St.

Commissioners also will consider a lease policy on first reading as well as airport garbage and April financial reports.

Chimacum schools

The Chimacum School Board will hear updates on enrollment and levy collection when it meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.

The board also will hear the superintendent’s recommendation for a facilitator.

It will hear a report on a community wellness project.

Public Utility District

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will consider a formal resolution naming the general manager when they meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 63 Four Corners Road.

On May 7, commissioners unanimously agreed to make Kevin Streett, who had been serving as interim general manager, permanent general manager, with an offer letter to be considered May 21.

At 1 p.m. Monday at 310 Four Corners Road, commissioners will discuss the general manager and organizational priorities. Action may be taken.

At a special meeting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at 310 Four Corners Road, commissioners will review the communications plan. No action is to be taken at the workshop.

Also at the regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, commissioners will consider customer service policy support for an energy efficiency program and a re-connect grant.

E. Jefferson Fire-Rescue

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue commissioners and the joint oversight board will discuss next steps for annexation when they meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at Station 1-5, 35 Critter Lane, Port Townsend.

The group also will discuss volunteer recruitment and retention, renewal of commercial/auto insurance and Jefferson County Rural Mental Health Development Network.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will consider significant wildland fire pre-authorization when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Commissioners will meet at 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
