EYE ON JEFFERSON: County commissioners to vote on county budget

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider and vote on a $55 million annual budget Monday.

The meeting will be at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers in the basement of the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The commissioners held a mandatory public hearing on the budget last Monday.

Also under consideration is a salary schedule for the Fair Labor Standards Act- and union-exempt management and professional employees for 2017.

Other items on the consent agenda are:

• Resolution certifying Special Taxing District levies for 2017.

• Resolution for adoption of the 2016-17 Jefferson County Cost Allocation Plan.

• An agreement with Jefferson County Public Health and the Kitsap Public Health District for $30,000.

• An agreement with Jefferson County District Court for jury software maintenance for $1,969.

• A call for bids for liquid asphalt products for roadway surface treatment for 2017.

Jefferson PUD

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will consider a resolution for 2016-17 rates and charges when they meet Monday.

The meeting will be at 5 p.m. at 230 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock.

PUD customers would see their bills rise by $7.01 as of Jan. 1, 2017, a service charge increase from $7.49 to $14.50.

In June 2017 would be another increase of 1 percent in the utilization rate, which will affect customers depending on how much electricity they use.

In a written state, the PUD said the cost of energy from the Bonneville Power Administration has already risen 6 percent and is projected to rise another 4 percent in 2017.

Some of the increase would go toward the repayment of a loan from Federal Rural Utility Services.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will hold a first reading on a resolution affirming meeting procedures approved since 2000 when it meets Wednesday.

The meeting will be at 1 p.m. in the port commission building, 333 Benedict St.

Other items on the agenda are:

• Olympic Peninsula Salmon Derby.

• Commission retreat.

• Personnel policy amendments.

Port Townsend School Board

The Port Townsend School Board will conduct its annual reorganization when it meets Monday.

The board will nominate and elect its board chair as well as other officers and committee assignments.

Other items on the consent agenda are:

• Approval of Tom Gambill and Chris Pierson for the shared position of credit recovery supervising teacher at Port Townsend High School.

• Approval of Kristin Thibeault for 2.5 hours a day as a bus driver.

• Acceptance of a donation of art supplies, equipment and books for a high school art class valued at $1,500 from Mitch Poling.

The board is also expected to review policies for world languages credit and excused and unexcused absences.

Chimacum School Board

The Chimacum School Board will consider action on collective bargaining agreements with the Chimacum Independent Association and the Custodial, Grounds, Maintenance Association when it meets Monday.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at 91 West Valley Road.

Other items on the consent agenda are:

• Acceptance of a $500 donation from Mike and Jenny Annis of Jostens for high school supplies.

• Acceptance of a Yamaha keyboard from Walter Dolten.

• Acceptance of a $2,500 donation from the Parents Class of 2017.

• Acceptance of $400 from the Port Ludlow Women’s Yacht Club for the math competency program.

• Approval of an all-hazards mitigation plan resolution with Jefferson County.

Peninsula College

Peninsula College trustees will meet Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 2 p.m. in Cornaby Center on the Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
