EYE ON JEFFERSON: County commissioners to mull several roadwork plans

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider agreements for roadwork when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The meeting, originally planned for Monday, has been moved to Tuesday because of the Memorial Day holiday.

Commissioners will recess into executive session at 10 a.m.

On the consent agenda are several road projects.

They include:

■ Slide repair on Dosewallips Road. An emergency repair costing $126,000 was made after a March 6 slide. A permanent repair will cost $160,000. Funding of $257,400 from the Washington State County Road Administration Board and a 10 percent match from the county roads fund will cover the cost of both.

■ Replacement of culverts on Upper Hoh Road in West Jefferson County, with all funding from the Federal Highway Administration.

■ Quinault South Shore Road. A permanent repair is needed to mitigate the impact to riparian and aquatic habitat caused by an emergency repair made in April 2010.

The Federal Highway Emergency Relief Fund will provide 86.5 percent of the $374,000 needed, with a 13.5 percent match from the county roads fund.

Other items on the consent agenda include:

■ An amendment adding two school nurse visits to the agreement between Jefferson County Public Health and the Olympic Educational Service District adding not more than $1,2016 — $606 each from the Port Townsend and Chimacum school districts.

■ An agreement to pay for auctioneer services with the amount to be determined by auction sales.
