The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on possible creation of a no-shooting area for the Tala Shore area of Port Ludlow at a meeting Monday.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
Residents of the area submitted a petition to the board to forbid target practice in the Tala Shore Drive area.
Property owners outside the original area have requested an expansion west to East Ludlow Ridge Road that includes another area at Tala Point.
The board will consider two options for the ordinance: one for the original area and a second for an expanded area.
After the public hearing, the commissioners could approve one of the draft ordinances or decide to take no action.
At 10:45 a.m., they plan a hearing on proposed budget appropriations for various county departments.
Commissioners plan an executive session from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to discuss strategy collective bargaining, professional negotiations or grievance or mediation proceedings.
At 11:30 a.m., they will conduct a hearing on surplus county property.
On the consent agenda, commissioners will consider a budget objectives resolution that includes using up to half the estimated unreserved fund balance to balance the 2015 general fund budget if needed.
They will consider determining the distribution of annual public utility district privilege tax revenues, which are $225,457 this year — $237,758 from the Jefferson County Public Utility District and $28,819 from PUDs in Grays Harbor, Mason and Clallam counties.
Of that, $41, 119 is expected to go to the city of Port Townsend.
Other items on the consent agenda include:
■ Calls for bids for pursuit-rated sport utility vehicles and dump trucks. Bids would be opened Aug. 18.
■ An agreement to repair and replace windows at the Port Townsend Community Center in the amount of $45,455.18.
■ An agreement to administer a juvenile accountability block grant in the amount of $6,100.
■ An agreement to allocate $38,100 for medical relapse prevention services to inmates at the Jefferson County jail.
Port Townsend city
The Port Townsend City Council will discuss rules for performances on city sidewalks when it meets Monday.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers in historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
The proposed ordinance would establish rules for performers on downtown streets, allowing them 24 square feet of performance space without a permit and up to 100 square feet with a variance that a performer could acquire up to four times a year.
The draft ordinance also increases the allowance for an espresso stand from 15 square feet to 24 square feet.
The new ordinance is related to the city’s sign code adapted in March that limits the size of free speech displays.
The council will hear a second reading of a zoning ordinance that sets rules for the establishment of medical marijuana-related collective gardens in residential areas.
It will consider submitting an application for a $65,000 grant for Howard Street corridor zoning and stormwater infrastructure.
Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, take place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
The Parks, Recreation and Trees Advisory Board will meet from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first-floor conference room of City Hall, 250 Madison St.
Port of Port Townsend
The Port of Port Townsend commissioners will hear an update about the airport industrial park when they meet Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in commissioners’ chambers at 333 Benedict St.
Commissioners also will discuss an amendment of the Townsend Bay Marine lease, a shipyard gravel resurfacing contract and parking policy.
Public development authority
The Fort Worden Public Development Authority will discuss Discover Pass sales when it meets Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in Commons Room B at Fort Worden State Park.
