EYE ON JEFFERSON: County commissioners to consider Upper Hoh Road repair Tuesday

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider approval of a project prospectus for repair of Upper Hoh Road when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in chambers, 1820 Jefferson St.

The county has been awarded Federal Highway Administration funding to replace a culvert on the road at Milepost 6.95 to ensure access to Olympic National Park land.

Commissioners also are expected to issue a call for bids for the publication of county legal notices.

The bids would be accepted until 9:30 a.m. March 14 and opened at 10 a.m. the same day.

Both items are on the consent agenda and will not be discussed unless requested by a commissioner or a member of the public.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will discuss the acquisition of a $3 million line of credit to improve its cash flow during the construction of the new water filtration plant at a meeting Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in chambers. 540 Water St.

The council also will discuss the acceptance of a donation from the Port Townsend Library Foundation to purchase wayfinding signs and discuss committee assignments.

Also planned this week is an Angel of the Arts/Patron of the Arts presentation from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St.

A quorum of the arts commission may be present.

Monday is a city holiday in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Jefferson PUD

The Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will consider an employment agreement with General Manager Jim Parker when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at 250 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock.

The proposed agreement says Parker will serve as general manager until May 18, 2018, when he will be employed part time as the district water/sewer utility supervisor/engineer until he retires.

As general manager, he is an at-will employee making $128,000 annually.

Commissioners also will consider declaring a state of emergency from Nov. 17-20 because of strong winds that caused damage necessitating emergency purchases.

They also will consider the authorization of 1st Security Bank as a depository bank, accepting an offer of transmission service from the Bonneville Power Administration and cybersecurity insurance.

Jefferson Transit

Jefferson Transit board members will hear a presentation about electric buses when they meet Tuesday.

The board will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the transit facility at 63 Four Corners Road.

They also will consider removing Operations Manager John Koschnick as a check signer and will authorize Leesa Monroe, mobility and outreach manager, to sign checks.

They will hear reports on ridership, maintenance and from the general manager.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will review and possibly revise governance policies, procedures and bylaws at a special meeting Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at noon in the third-floor conference room at 2500 W. Sims Way.

CEO Mike Glenn also will provide an administrative report.

Public development authority

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority’s executive committee will hear a report about the 2016 draft operational budget when it meets Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. in Fort Worden Commons.
