EYE ON JEFFERSON: County commissioners to consider tax for housing

City Council to consider extending cable TV franchise pact

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider an ordinance to impose a sales and use tax for affordable and supportive housing when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The sales and use tax would be credited against the existing state sales and use tax.

At 1:30 p.m., commissioners will be briefed on options for continuing and enhancing a community pool and recreation facility.

Items on the consent agenda include adopting a corrected salary schedule for non-union and professional employees for 2020, a change order for $28,213.26 for the transfer station site improvement project, and an agreement for a contract with Tetra Tech, Inc. worth $160,817 for ongoing facilitation, public outreach, and funding and finance support on the Port Hadlock wastewater project.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will consider extending the duration of the cable TV franchise held by WaveDivision I, LLC when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

Council also will consider a resolution to authorize the city manager to execute an amendment to the Mountain View Commons Community Recovery Center partnership agreement.

Monday’s meeting will the last for Mayor Deborah Stinson and City Council member Bob Gray.

Quilcene School Board

The Quilcene School Board will conduct its annual organizational meeting and have an election of officers when it meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The board will meet in Room 9 at 294715 U.S. Highway 101.

Brinnon School Board

The Brinnon School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at the school library, 46 Schoolhouse Road, Brinnon.

No agenda was available as of Saturday.

Jefferson Transit

Jefferson Transit board members will consider adopting the 2020 proposed budget when they meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The board will meet at the transit facility, 63 Four Corners Road.

The board also will consider authorizing a grant agreement, closing debt service reserve accounts, adopting an amended reserve fund policy and adopting an amended ADA policy.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will conduct an executive session when they meet in a special session at 9 a.m. Monday.

Commissioners will meet in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room on the first floor of 834 Sheridan St.

They will discuss current or potential litigation. Action may be taken.

Commissioners will conduct a swearing-in ceremony when they meet for a special session at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

That meeting also will be in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room and will include a financial report from CEO Mike Glenn and a quality report from Brandie Manuel, the hospital’s chief patient safety and quality officer.

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue commissioners will elect a board chair and vice chair when they meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at Station 1-5, 35 Critter Lane, Port Townsend.

Commissioners also will swear in David Seabrook and discuss the purchase of an aerial platform ladder.

Development authority

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority board will consider a resolution to approve the issuance of a revenue bond not to exceed $1.5 million to finance the Makers Square project when it meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will start at Commons B (Building 210) at Fort Worden, 200 Battery Way.

Sheriff advisory panel

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Committee will receive an update from Sheriff Joe Nole when it meets at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will be at the Finnriver Farmhouse Library, 124 Center Road, Chimacum.

Nole will discuss calls for service, a community safety meeting, the department’s budget and active shooter training at Kala Point, among other items.

Committee discussions will include neighborhood updates.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will hear a risk reduction and planning report when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at station headquarters, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
