EYE ON JEFFERSON: County commissioners to consider lodging tax funding

The three Jefferson County commissioners will discuss and possibly take action on 2018 lodging tax funding recommendations from the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Items on the consent agenda include:

• A contract supplement for with Parametrix of Bremerton for an additional $4,000 — project total of $75,276.97 — for engineering services for the Olympic Discovery Trail project on South Discovery Bay.

• Public hearing scheduling for 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, to receive public testimony concerning adoption of the 2018-23 Jefferson County Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program.

• Advisory board reappointments to the Solid Waste Advisory: Jenifer Taylor for District 2 citizen representative and Alyssa Russell for industry representative.

• A motion to set five special meetings with citizens to solicit input and discuss county issues.

On the board’s regular agenda is an update on the state Department of Natural Resources’ third-quarter county income report.

During the county administrator briefing session at 1:30 p.m., commissioners will discuss the economic development element of the comprehensive plan’s periodic update.

Afterward, the board will meet with the county administrator, chief civil deputy prosecuting attorney and community development director on attorney-client privilege regarding potential litigation.

Other county committee meetings this week are:

Budget Committee — 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, first-floor conference room, courthouse.

Planning Commission — 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, Chimacum.

Port Townsend City Council

The Port Townsend City Council will host a public hearing on an ordinance that would adopt 2018 property tax levies when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The special meeting will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

If approved, the ordinance would raise property taxes in 2018 to fund emergency medical services and the Mountain View Commons.

Also on the agenda:

• An ordinance adopting 2017 supplemental budget appropriations.

• An ordinance amending the capital surcharge on water rates, amending the municipal code and establishing an effective date.

• An ordinance authorizing the city manager to extend the repayment date on the $250,000 loan to Homeward Bound, doing business as the Olympic Housing Trust.

• A resolution authorizing an interfund loan related to affordable housing.

• A resolution directing the city manager to negotiate a pre-annexation memorandum of agreement and possible amendments to existing interlocal agreements.

• 2018 budget discussion. No action is scheduled.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday will be the seventh annual North Olympic Peninsula regional forum on affordable housing and homelessness. A quorum of the City Council may attend, but no city business would be conducted.

At 3:30 p.m. Monday, the Library Advisory Board will host a special meeting at the Library Learning Center/Charles Pink House, 1256 Lawrence St., Port Townsend.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will host a budget hearing for fiscal year 2018 when they meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The board will meet in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room on the first floor of 834 Sheridan St.

Commissioners also will consider resolutions with/without a property tax increase and on the fiscal year 2018 budget.

The board will go into executive session to consider the CEO evaluation format.

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue commissioners will discuss and take public comment on the 2018 budget when they meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at Station 1-5, 35 Critter Lane, Port Townsend.

PDA executive committee

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority Executive Committee will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The meeting will be in the Seminar Room of Building 297 at Fort Worden, 200 Battery Way.

Peninsula College

Peninsula College trustees will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

They will meet in the Cornaby Center on the Peninsula College Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The trustees will hear standing reports and consider items for board study and action.
