EYE ON JEFFERSON: County commissioners to accept grant for Memorial Field lighting

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider accepting a state grant for replacing lighting at Memorial Field when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The project was ranked as the top priority for a state Recreation and Conservation Office Youth Athletic Facilities grant, a staff memo said.

The grant will provide $12,500 with the county and community pledging $137,500 .

The new lighting is guaranteed to 25 years, staff said.

Bids for the 2018-19 supply of aggregate products for the county bituminous surface treatment will be opened at 10 a.m. The Public Works Department will review the bids and make a recommendation.

Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on sale of tax title property at the northwest corner of Coyle Road and West Go-onna Drive in Quilcene to Ronald George Dickinson for $1,648.

Items on the consent agenda include:

• Setting the schedule for creation of the 2019 budget.

• Considering approval of a Conservation Futures grant of $97,100 for Tarboo Creek, Farm and Forest.

• Considering an additional $9,069 for the contract with Olympic Community Action Programs for transitional housing, for a total of $49,069.

• Considering changes in the contracts with Discovery Behavioral Healthcare for an additional $12,189 for jail inmate services for a total of $63,235, an additional $24,126 for school children counseling for a total of $161,282, and an additional $9,099 for services for those with co-occurring disorders for a total of $29,222.

• Awarding a bid of $972,750 to Husky Marketing and Supply of Seattle for supply of liquid asphalt products from 2018-2020.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council Finance and Budget Committee will discuss affordable housing financing options in which the city could play a role when it meets at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The committee will meet in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

The panel also will discuss code amendments “to advance perpetual afford ability with housing development.”

The Port Townsend City Council will not meet this week.

Other city committee meetings, which are in conference rooms at City Hall, 250 Madison St., unless otherwise noted are:

• Historic Preservation Committee — 3 p.m. Tuesday, third-floor conference room.

• Parks, Recreation and Trees Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, first-floor conference room.

• City Council Ad Hoc Committee on the Stormwater Management Plan — 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, council chambers at 540 Water St.

• Civil Service Commission — 3:15 p.m., second-floor conference room.

• Climate Action Committee — 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cotton Building, 607 Water St.

• Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m., first-floor conference room.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will consider adopting changes in meeting procedures when they meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The regular session will be in chambers, 333 Benedict St. It will be preceded by a public workshop at 1 p.m., when guest speaker Frank Chmelik of Chmelik, Sitkin & Davis will lead a discussion on leasing practices.

Meeting procedure changes include returning to a schedule of two meetings per month — at 1 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month and at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of the month — as well as limits on public comment.

Also during the regular session, commissioners will discuss financial policies and consider a new lease for $250 per month for the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Chimacum School

The Chimacum School Board will hear reports from Superintendent Rick Thompson on emergency preparedness and recent safe and civil school training when it meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.

The board also will hear of the Chimacum Elementary School improvement plan.

An executive session is planned to evaluate the qualifications of a applicant for public employment or to review the performance of a public employee.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will hear a report on January financial information when they meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The board will meet in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room on the first floor of 834 Sheridan St.

It will consider action on medical staff credentials, appointments and reappointments; medical staff policy; and surplus equipment.

Development authority

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority board will hear an update on Makers Square when it meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at Commons B at Fort Worden, 200 Battery Way.

The board will discuss the market focus, glamping and hear an update on the state budget.
