EYE ON JEFFERSON: Commissioners to open Chimacum Safe Route to Schools project bids Tuesday

The three Jefferson County commissioners will open bids for the Chimacum Safe Route to Schools project when they meet Tuesday.

Bids will open at 10 a.m. after the meeting begins at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St.

The cost estimated for the project on state Highway 19 and West Valley Road is $191,425. It is funded by a grant.

The award is expected to be made at a later date.

The commissioners also will consider on the consent agenda issuing a call for bids for culvert replacement on Upper Hoh Road.

Bids would accepted until 9:30 a.m. March 16 on the project, estimated to cost $550,752. It is funded by the Federal Highway Administration.

Additional items on the consent agenda include:

■   An agreement to allocate $165,000 to the Hood Canal Coordinating Council for project administration and management.

■   An agreement to allocate an additional $11,838 to support therapeutic court case management services provided by Safe Harbor Recovery Center.

■   An agreement to allocate $243,500 for a conservation easement on the Short Family Farm in Chimacum.

■   An agreement to allocate $47,100 to the Jefferson County Conservation District to promote conservation and protect and improve water quality.

Port Townsend city

The Comprehensive Plan Technical Committee will discuss data describing Port Townsend when it meets Tuesday.

The meeting is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the third-floor conference room at City Hall, 250 Madison St.

The committee is reviewing the comprehensive plan for Port Townsend.

The Port Townsend City Council does not meet this week.

Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, take place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

Other city meetings to be held in conference rooms at City Hall are:

■   Council General Services and Special Projects Committee — Discussing scholarships from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, second-floor conference room.

■ Civil Service Commission — 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., second-floor conference room.

Quilcene schools

The Quilcene School Board will discuss semester replacing trimester and elementary school report cards during the work session portion of its meeting Wednesday.

The board will meet at 4:30 p.m. for the work session in the boardroom at the school at 294715 U.S. Highway 101.

At 5 p.m., it will conduct an executive session to review the superintendent’s contract and for personnel review.

The regular meeting will begin at 6 p.m., when the board will consider several policies.

Jefferson Transit

Jefferson Transit board members will discuss the disposal of surplus property at a meeting Tuesday.

The board will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Port Townsend Fire Station, 701 Harrison St.

It also will hear reports on operations, maintenance and from the general manager.

Jefferson Healthcare hospital

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will hear an update on the construction of the hospital’s specialty services building when they meet Wednesday.

The meeting is at 3:30 p.m. in the hospital auditorium, 832 Sheridan St.

Jefferson PUD

The Jefferson County Public Utility District board of directors will discuss cannabis-related load rates when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting is at 5 p.m. at 230 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock.

Some public utilities have developed separate rate schedules for marijuana facilities to make it easier to serve them with non-federal power if the Bonneville Power Administration decides that federal power can’t be used for them.

Commissioners also will consider documents transferring some Clallam County Public Utility District facilities to the Jefferson PUD so it can provide Port Townsend Paper Corp. with power.

They will consider approval of prepayment for a temporary building and a policy to pay exempt employees overtime during emergency situations.
