EYE ON JEFFERSON: Chimacum schools to eye bond options

The Chimacum School Board will discuss options after the defeat of a bond proposal when it conducts a special meeting Wednesday.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the Chimacum High School library, 91 West Valley Road.

A $29.1 million construction bond failed to get 60 percent approval in Tuesday’s special election.

The board will hear public comment and discuss the timing of a possible second attempt at passing a bond.

County commissioners

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider authorizing the temporary closure of Undi Road to repair flood damage when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Monday is the Presidents Day holiday.

Recent storms have severely damaged the road, and the closure is necessary to facilitate emergency repair work, an agenda memo says.

During the closure, people living on 16 parcels with no alternative access will still be able to use the road.

Undi Road is in western Jefferson County south of Forks.

The matter is on the consent agenda, which means it will be approved without discussion unless requested otherwise by members of the staff or public.

Other items on the consent agenda include:

■ A call for bids to supply pavement markings on Jefferson County Roads, to be opened and read publicly at 10 a.m. March 7 in commissioners’ chambers.

■ Authorization to approve no more than $43,650 for executive search services to fill the central services director and Department of Community Development director positions.

■ Lodging tax grants of $15,000 to Centrum and $52,350 to the North Hood Canal Chamber of Commerce.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will discuss authorizing a call for bids for the Howard Street project at a meeting Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

Monday is a holiday, and all offices will be closed.

The proposed action would authorize City Manager David Timmons to advertise for bids, award a construction contract to the lowest responsive bidder and sign all necessary documents and contracts for the project.

The project will connect Sims Way and Discovery Road and is expected to improve the traffic flow at the south end of town.

The council also will consider forming a separate stormwater capital fund, using a $3-per-account capital surcharge, for the construction, repair and maintenance of the stormwater system.

It will consider for final approval its clarification of utility billing and eligibility for low-income rates.

Scheduled city meetings taking place in conference rooms at City Hall, 250 Madison St., are:

■ Historic Preservation Committee — Special meeting from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the first-floor conference room to consider the Fowler House rehabilitation.

■ General Services and City Projects Committee — 4 p.m. Tuesday, third-floor conference room. On the agenda is an amended charter for the Fort Worden Lifelong Learning Center Public Development Authority.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will develop a job qualifications packet for its executive director position at a special meeting Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in chambers, 333 Benedict St.

Jefferson PUD

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will consider bids for clearing transmission lines when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 5 p.m. at 230 Chimacum Road in Port Hadlock.

The board will adjourn for an executive session on union negotiations and potential litigation.

It will consider assignment of a lease of a Port Townsend High School communications tower that’s part of the PUD’s wireless network from Mobilisa Inc. to the PUD.

Jefferson Transit

The Jefferson Transit board will consider board member elections when it meets Tuesday.

The board will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the transit facility at 63 Four Corners Road.

It also will hear operations and maintenance reports and conduct an executive session regarding property.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will review and possibly revise governance policies, procedures and bylaws at a special meeting Monday.

The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Jefferson Healthcare Conference Room, Suite 302, 2500 W. Sims Way.

Public development authority

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority Coordinating Committee will review a draft of the 10-year state parks/PDA capital plan when it meets Wednesday.

The meeting will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Fort Worden Commons.
