EYE ON JEFFERSON: Board to eye more Undie Road action

()

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider more action on the Undie Road relocation when they meet Monday.

The meeting will be at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

An executive session to discuss possible litigation with counsel is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Commissioners will consider adding $56,710 to the professional services agreement with Clark Land Office for construction surveying for the relocation of a portion of Undie Road.

The supplemental agreement will bring the contract to a total of $80,644, which is within the total Undie Road budget parameters, staff says.

The 0.8-mile stretch of Undie Road on the north bank of the Bogachiel River south of Forks was severely damaged during fall and winter storms and is now reduced to one barely navigable lane.

The current project is intended to create an alternate route.

Construction is expected to begin in August.

It will be funded through a combination of county road fund, federal payments in lieu of taxes and internal borrowing, according to a staff memo.

The item is on the consent agenda. Also on that agenda is a contract amendment for continuing Department of Social and Health Services services for clients with developmental disabilities in the amount of $293,421 for a total of $561,241.

Commissioners also will consider contracts for a GIS upgrade with a $73,720 contract with Pro-West & Associates of Walker, Minn., and a small government business license with Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc. of Olympia for $38,150 annually for three years.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will conduct what is expected to be the first of three meetings in a public hearing on the 2016 Growth Management Act periodic update to the comprehensive plan and development regulations when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

The update is expected to be adopted Sept. 6.

Elements include land use, housing, transportation, utilities, capital facilities and economic development.

The council also will consider city annexation into the Jefferson County Conservation District; adopting a new chapter, a complete streets policy, into city code; and establishing a process for naming city parks and facilities.

Other city committees, which will meet in conference rooms at City Hall, 250 Madison St., unless otherwise noted, are:

■ Historic Preservation Committee — 3 p.m. Tuesday, third-floor conference room.

■ Arts Commission — 3 p.m. Wednesday, first-floor conference room.

■ Non-motorized Transportation Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m. Thursday, first-floor conference room.
