EYE ON JEFFERSON: Board eyes contract for local company on trail project

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider executing a construction contract for the bid amount of $557,319 with Port Hadlock-based Shold Excavating Inc. for the Rick Tollefson Memorial Trail project, Phase 1, when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Other items on the consent agenda include:

• A resolution temporarily closing Center Road to replace a failed culvert.

• Authorization of an additional $1,422.58 for slide repair on Oil City Road.

• A personal services agreement with McDonald Consulting to provide recommendations for improvements to Jefferson County Public Health. The agreement is for $19,125.

During their briefing session, commissioners will consider a proclamation declaring the week of June 19 as Amateur Radio Week.

On the regular agenda, the board will hear a presentation on 2017 funding recommendations for the Conservation Futures Citizens Oversight Committee, as well as conduct a hearing on 2017 Conservation Futures funding applications — Iglitzin Farm, Lower Duckabush River estuary open space, Serendipity Farm and Snow Creek Uncas Preserve Taylor.

During the county administrator briefing session at 1:30 p.m., commissioners will discuss miscellaneous items — including a briefing on the Home Opportunity Fund — calendar coordination and future agenda items.

Other county committee meetings are:

• North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee — 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Olympic Natural Resources Center, 1455 S. Forks Ave., Forks.

• Jefferson County Budget Committee — 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, first-floor conference room, Jefferson County Courthouse.

Port Townsend City Council

The Port Townsend City Council will host a public hearing on a resolution approving the 2018-23 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program and authorizing the city manager to submit it to the state when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

The council annually must adopt a Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program, with a public hearing and adoption by resolution completed by June 30 of each year, to be eligible for state and federal assistance on any of the projects listed.

On the consent agenda, the council will consider a resolution authorizing the city manager to sign a Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) grant agreement for emergency pavement repairs and to enter into contracts to complete the repair work. The TIB has approved a grant of $46,555 for the city, with the city’s match approximately $8,200.

Others items under consideration are:

• A resolution authorizing the city manager to executive an agreement with Homeward Bound for reimbursement of capacity improvement costs. It is seeking a grant not to exceed $30,000.

• A possible update to the city ethics code related to reporting and tracking requirements on municipal officers.

Before adjourning, the council will go into executive session.

Other city committee meetings are:

• Library Advisory Board — 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Library Learning Center/Charles Pink House, 1256 Lawrence St.

 Port Townsend Planning Commission — 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, second-floor conference room, City Hall, 250 Madison St. The panel will talk about the Howard Street/Sims Ways sub-area plan and critical areas ordinance update.

Quilcene School Board

The Quilcene School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with a work session to precede it at 5 p.m.

The board will meet in Room 9 at 294715 U.S. Highway 101.

Jefferson Transit

The Jefferson Transit Authority board has scheduled meeting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The board will meet at the transit facility at 63 Four Corners Road.

Jefferson PUD

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will consider action on resident email questions, succession planning and a cost-of-service stuffer when they meet at 5 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be at 230 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock.

Other items under consideration are a resolution on credit cards, credit card policy, setting a date for a PUD special meeting on meter requests for proposal and awarding a tree trimming contract.

The board may go into executive session if needed.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will hear from Jefferson County Public Health health educator Karen Obermeyer on Initiative 5210 — launched to increase physical activity and healthy eating — when they meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room on the first floor of 834 Sheridan St.

Commissioners also will consider action on medical staff credentials/appointments/reappointments, May warrants and adjustments, a resolution on canceling warrants and an emergency CEO succession policy.

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue commissioners are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at Station 1-5, 35 Critter Lane, Port Townsend.
