EYE ON JEFFERSON: Affordable housing action on county agenda

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider approving funding levels for inclusion in requests for proposals for affordable housing when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Commissioners also will reorganize the board.

On the consent agenda are calls for bids for courthouse boiler replacement and for a supply of aggregate for bituminous surface treatment.

Also on the consent agenda are agreements with the Jefferson Universal Movement Playground design for an accessible playground at HJ Carroll Park in the amount of $31,360; a supplemental agreement with Civil Engineering Services for the Quilcene Complete Streets Project; and a agreement for coordination of services for low-risk juvenile offenders between the juvenile services department and the YMCA.

Management agreements are scheduled to be adopted for the Gardiner Community Center, the Port Townsend Community Center, the three county community centers — in the Tri-Area Quilcene and Brinnon — and agreements for an interlocal shoreline master plan effectiveness study and Proctor House services.

At 1:30 p.m., during the county administrator briefing session, will be discussions of board and committee assignments and the 2020 legislative session

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will consider imposing a sales and use tax for affordable housing — which is a credit against the state sales tax and so will not raise taxes for city consumers — when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

The council also will consider amending the interlocal agreement with Jefferson County to support affordable housing and homeless housing programs.

The council will elect officers at this meeting. Taking the oath of office before the mayor and deputy mayor are chosen will be David Faber, Amy Howard, Monica MickHager and Owen Rowe.

Council members also will consider adopting the city’s legislative agenda.

Also meeting this week will be the Council Rules Committee. It will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday in council chambers.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will elect officers when they meet in regular session at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The regular session will be in chambers, 333 Benedict St. It will be preceded by a public workshop at 9:30 a.m. where commissioners will be introduced to an update of the draft comprehensive scheme of harbor improvements.

At the regular session, commissioners also will consider leases for Pete’s Marine Metal and Northwest Maritime Center’s marine thrift store.

Chimacum Schools

The Chimacum School Board will conduct a work session during a special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.

No agenda was available as of Saturday.

Public Utility District

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will disclose potential conflicts of interest when they meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 63 Four Corners Road.

They also will consider reformatting the agenda.

On the consent agenda are bid awards for Coyle tree trimming and the Adams Street conduit and vault installation.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will conduct the oath of office and elect new officers when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Commissioners meet at 323 N. Fifth St., Sequim.

They also will hear reports on operations and logistics as well as from the fire chief.

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
