EYE ON CLALLAM: County to open bids on Dungeness floodplain project

The three Clallam County commissioners will open bids for phase one of the Lower Dungeness River Floodplain Restoration and Levee/Road Realignment Project when they meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The Tuesday meeting will be preceded by a work session on Monday at 9 a.m.

The in-person meetings will be in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

• Public hearings on an amended fee schedule and a mid-year budget review.

• An updated Shoreline Master Program and an amendment of county code regarding shoreline management.

• Agreements with the state Department of Commerce for Secure Residential Crisis Center and ancillary therapeutic services; with Clallam Conservation District for resource conservation planning and implementation; with the state Department of Transportation for Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge Project and with Lutheran Community Services Northwest for $165,000 in Homeless Task Force Funds.

• A proclamation honoring Allen Sill for a lifetime of service on his 100th birthday.

• Recognition of Wendy Peterson for more than 37 years of service to Clallam County.

The work session also will preview items set for action at Tuesday’s formal meeting. Agenda items include adoption of 2021 Solid Waste management Plan and discussions on mental health court, the Shoreline Master Program and CARES funding.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Clallam Transit

Clallam Transit board members will hear updates from the individual departments when they meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the Clallam Transit System administration building, 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will consider recommendations for use of American Rescue Plan Act funding when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

During a special meeting at 5 p.m., an executive session is planned to discuss collective bargaining before a council goals workshop is conducted in open session.

The Sequim School Board will approve a variety of policies when it meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Monday.
