Clallam County commissioners will consider approving Homelessness Task Force funding requests for 2019 at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The Homelessness Task Force has recommended that commissioners make 18 state funding allocations to eight local organizations that assist the homeless.
The total amount recommended to be spent is $1.46 million.
Other action items for the business meeting include:
• An agreement with Morningside for classes focused on teaching workforce readiness skills to youth and other job seekers with developmental disabilities.
• An agreement with Clallam Mosaic for classes and workshops focused on healthy relationships for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
• An agreement with First Step Family Support Center for a supported parenting project.
• An agreement with Concerned Citizens for two 10-week series of classes focused on teaching workforce readiness skills to youth and other job seekers with developmental disabilities.
• An agreement with Concerned Citizens for classes focused on teaching individuals with developmental disabilities and their families how to set financial goals, understand income, expenses, budget and benefits and employment.
• An interlocal agreement with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe to provide food safety training, food service establishment assessments and consultative services to the tribe.
• A contract with the North Peninsula Building Association for an exhibit to be displayed at the North Peninsula Building Expo on Feb. 16 and 17.
• An agreement with KONP Radio for an exhibit to be displayed at the Clallam County Home and Lifestyle Show on March 16 and 17.
• A resolution appointing Ann Soule to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
• A resolution appointing Jon Krause to the Boundary Review Board.
• A public hearing on a resolution declaring property surplus and authorizing sale.
Commissioners will conduct an early work session at 7:30 a.m. Monday.
Discussion topics include the future process for opting in or opting out for consolidated grant funds and Homelessness Task Force request for proposals.
Other agenda items include:
• A grant application with Olympic National Forest for noxious weed control on U.S. Forest Service land.
• A resolution canceling uncollectable personal property taxes per state law.
• A resolution re-establishing and modifying revolving, petty cash and change funds for the Health and Human Services Department.
• Contract amendments with the state departments of Ecology and Health.
• A resolution re-authorizing the Auditor’s existing imprest accounts, establishing two new tills and closing the office petty cash fund.
• Letters of support for the Dungeness River Floodplain Restoration Project and other salmon restoration projects for 2019.
• A discussion on Clallam County climate week.
• An update on the current legislative session.
Port Angeles city
The Port Angeles City Council will hear an update on efforts to replace the U.S. Highway 101 bridge over the Elwha River on Tuesday.
The state Department of Transportation presentation will begin at 5 p.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth. St.
Transportation officials will share progress that has been made over the past year and explain what work remains to be done before construction begins, according to a state announcement.
Built in 1926, the existing bridge is being undermined by a now-free-flowing Elwha River.
The regular City Council meeting will commence at 6 p.m.
Action items include:
• A second reading and consideration of a multi-family dwellings tax exemption ordinance.
• An update on the city’s housing needs assessment.
• The feasibility of a joint Peninsula Communications/Emergency Operations Center.
• A proposal to purchase and redevelop a downtown parking lot.
• The final design concept for the city’s wayfinding program.
• A legislative briefing.
Public Utility District
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will conduct two public workshops on the district’s advanced meter strategy Monday and hold an additional workshop Feb. 11.
The Monday meetings will begin at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent Boardroom at the Carlsborg main office at 104 Hooker Road.
Due to inclement weather, an additional makeup workshop has been scheduled for Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the same location.
Staff will be on hand to answer questions about the five-year, $3.75 million smart meter program.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will consider a non-represented salary schedule when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.
The board will meet at 503 N. Sequim Ave. The regular meeting will be preceded by a workshop on board self-assessment.
The board also will discuss the Carlsborg sewer and the Greywolf schedule, as well as consider several policies.
Planning commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission will conduct a work session to review wireless communication facilities at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
