EYE ON CLALLAM: Sequim City Council to consider advisory fireworks vote Monday

The Sequim City Council will consider putting an advisory vote on a proposal to prohibit discharge of fireworks within city limits on the Nov. 8 general election ballot when it meets Monday.

The council meets at 5 p.m. the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The council also will conduct a public hearing on the 2016-21 Transportation Improvement Program and consider approval of the 2017-22 six-year transportation improvement plan, an agreement on climate change adaptation strategies and an interlocal agreement with Clallam County on building code administration and enforcement.

County/Port meeting

Clallam County commissioners and Port of Port Angeles commissioners will conduct a joint meeting to discuss items of common interest Monday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the county commissioners’ boardroom in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Topics for the meeting include:

■   A joint request to the Clallam County Economic Development Corp. for 2017 goals and metrics prior to the end of this year.

■   A second-quarter report on the Composite Recycling Technology Center.

■   North Olympic Peninsula Resource Conservation and Development Council economic development strategies.

■   The port’s role in the Olympic Workforce Development Council, or OWDC, process.

■   Funding for the marine trades workforce through OWDC, including a supply and demand study.

■   How best to achieve representation on the OWDC of all businesses and workforce needs in the county.

Clallam County

Clallam County commissioners will consider agreements concerning the Lange family litigation and property when they meet Tuesday.

Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Tuesday’s action will follow discussion at the 9 a.m Monday work session in the same place.

Commissioners will discuss on Monday and act on Tuesday on:

■ An agreement and release with Scott and Elizabeth Lange, trustees of the Lange Family Trust, for concluded litigation in the matter of Lange, et al. vs Clallam County, et al.

■   An agreement with the Langes for the purchase of two adjoining parcels of land on Salt Air Street in Clallam Bay.

■   A quit claim deed to encumber the Lange property for public use as a park or open space.

Other Tuesday action items will be:

■   A contract amendment with the state Department of Agriculture to increase funding for knotweed control activities.

■   An agreement with the state Department of Natural Resources to provide surveys and control of noxious weed in selected riparian areas.

■ Bid openings for boiler replacement at the Clallam County Courthouse and for a second-story remodel of the Clallam County building on Third Street in Port Angeles.

■ Grant applications for construction of the lower Dungeness River floodplain restoration and levee setback project and for funding a segment of the Spruce Railroad Trail and the Daley Rankin tunnel.

Also discussed on Monday will be:

■   A contract with the state Military Department for reimbursement funding to the Peninsula Communications dispatch center.

■   A resolution authorizing the permanent closure of Otter Way near Sequim to unauthorized motor vehicles.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will review information from a community facilities survey when it meets Wednesday.

The special meeting will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.

During the workshop, the board will review information presented by CFW, regarding the community facilities survey and recommendations for moving forward. No action will be taken.

Anticipating a large public turn-out, the board decided to hold the meeting at a larger venue than the district’s board room can accommodate.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider an environmental management system when they meet Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at the port commission meeting room, 338 W. First St.

Commissioners also will consider a bid award for Terminal 1 electrical grounding and an airport donation.

Public utility district

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider an acceptance memo for completion of field construction management and specialty inspector services for the Bluffs Well replacement project Phase II on Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent Boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.

Other agenda items include an acceptance memo for completion of facilities construction testing, a purchase order for parts and labor for a new records department filing system, and a resolution establishing the current electric service regulations and requirements.

Carlsborg council

The Carlsborg Community Advisory Council will hear a status update on the Carlsborg sewer project on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Greywolf Elementary School library, 171 Carlsborg Road.

Other agenda items include a discussion on shadow platting and development standards and a Clallam County Public Utility District water update.

Forks City Council

The Forks City Council will consider a request from the Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at City hall, 500 E. Division St.

The council will consider service in lieu of rent.

It also will hear reports on the jail and building permits.
