EYE ON CLALLAM: RV rules on county agenda

Peninsula Daily News

Clallam County commissioners will discuss potential regulations for recreational vehicles at a work session that will begin at 9 a.m. Monday. The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

It can be viewed at www.clallam.net/features/meetings.html.

County staff has been working with the Planning Commission to address recreational uses, primarily RVs, through a draft ordinance.

“Code Enforcement deals with a large number of complaints related to RV use, which is not well defined in the Clallam County Code,” Community Development Director Mary Ellen Winborn said in an executive summary.

“This draft ordinance would require RVs be connected to proper sewage disposal, deal with solid waste and provides a table of allowed number of days of RV use.”

Other discussion items for the work session include:

• A memorandum of understanding with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for a Class III gaming holding area.

• Notice of a June 8 hearing for the proposed surplus of vehicles.

• An agreement with Port Angeles School District for transition program training.

• An amended agreement with the state County Road Administration Board for the Laird Road reconstruction project.

• A request for a new position for trail maintenance and volunteer coordination.

• An update of the county’s Shoreline Master Program.

• A monthly budget performance review.

Commissioners will conduct their weekly business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

• A property purchase at 16401 state Highway 112 in Clallam Bay.

• An agreement with the Washington Secretary of State for a combined state and local voter pamphlet.

• An amended agreement with Environmental Science Associates for a Shoreline Master Program periodic review and amendment.
