The Port Angeles City Council will consider a petition to put to a public vote a proposal that the city government be changed when it meets Tuesday.
The regular meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St. An executive session to discuss potential litigation is set for 5 p.m.
The council will consider setting a date for an election on the proposal that the city’s form of government be changed from a noncharter code city to a second-class city.
A citizens group, Our Water, Our Choice!, filed the petition and requested the city submit the proposition to voters in November.
To place the proposition on the November ballot, the council must submit it to the county no later than Aug. 2.
Election costs would be paid from the general fund.
The council also will consider contracts with the International Association of Firefighters Local 646 and Teamsters Local 589.
It will hear reports form the city manager on police in downtown, roofing permits and Francis Street Park signage.
Clallam County
Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing for a midyear status review of the 2016 budget Tuesday.
The hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
County Administrator Jim Jones is projecting a $1.75 million draw on general fund reserves by year’s end, an improvement from the budgeted draw of $2.95 million, according to an executive summary.
Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
â– An agreement with Washington State University for educational programs.
â– A bid award to Jordan Excavating of Port Angeles for an Olympic Discovery Trail project west of Lake Crescent.
â– An emergency ordinance to establish interim zoning for certain rural districts to limit the size of structures.
Commissioners will hold their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday to discuss items set for action at future meetings.
Scheduled discussion topics include:
â– A contract amendment with the state Department of Health to add funding for a recreational shellfish program; HIV client services; Women, Infants and Children program farmers market activity; and hardware and software for a water program.
â– An agreement with the state Department of Natural Resources to provide surveys and control of noxious weeds in riparian areas.
â– A contract amendment with the state Department of Agriculture to increase funding for knotweed control activities.
â– A Clallam County Agricultural Commission request for $4,000 for a facilitator to bring together a task force to develop a vision for the future of agriculture.
â– An agreement with the Port of Port Angeles for use of a portion of airport property for staging of demolition derby participants on Sunday, Aug. 21, of the Clallam County Fair.
â– An agreement with Peninsula Area Public Access to air public education and government programming.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider awarding a bid for marine terminal stormwater conveyance in a special meeting Monday.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the port commission meeting room, 338 W. First St.
Other agenda items include organizational structure and governance.
Sequim city
The Sequim City Council and city planning commission will conduct a joint meeting Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.
The group will attend a land-use quasi-judicial proceedings seminar.
Clallam Transit
Clallam Transit board members will hear a status update on a request for proposals for a video surveillance system Monday.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.
The board also will present memorandums of commendation for professional conduct to dispatcher Jaci Rooney and maintenance worker Casey Rudd.
Board of Health
The Clallam County Board of Health will hear a six-month review of opioid overdose reporting and review an opioid response plan Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse.
Health board members also will hear briefings on a homelessness survey and Washington State University Extension office activities.
Planning commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed code change for 17.9 acres near Port Angeles from urban reserve industrial to industrial at its Wednesday meeting.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse.
The affected property is on the northeast corner of the Fey Road-U.S. Highway 101 intersection.
Members of the planning commission will also resume discussions on proposed code amendments for vacation rentals and bed-and-breakfasts.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will hear results of a community telephone survey at a workshop preceding the regular meeting Monday.
The board will meet for the workshop at 5:30 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m., at the transit center at 190 W. Cedar St.
A representative of CFW Advisory Services LLC will the phone survey presentation.
During the regular meeting, the board will consider a superintendent contract for 2016-19 and approval of a school meal price increase of 10 cents.
Olympic Medical ÂCenter
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will consider agreements for general surgery professional services and for pediatrician employment when they meet Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.
Commissioners also will consider Georgiana playground equipment, a maintenance agreement for heart center nuclear camera equipment, capital purchases for the medical office building information services equipment and phase I of the phone system, a purchase of anesthesia machines, MRI upgrades and mobile MRI service.
Clallam PUD
The Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners’ meeting for Monday has been canceled due to a lack of a quorum. The next meeting will be July 25.
