The Port Angeles City Council will conduct a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the city’s Comprehensive Plan at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth. St.
The Comprehensive Plan is a “policy foundation” for the city that sets fundamental goals, policies and objectives that are the basis for all action, according to the current plan.
Other agenda items for the meeting include:
• A public hearing on a proposed 2020-2025 capital facilities plan and transportation improvement plan.
• Proclamations for the Port Angeles Maritime Festival, set Saturday and Sunday, and Pink Up Port Angeles, which begins June 15.
• Recognition of Port Angeles High School student Emmy Award nominees.
• The purchase of Light Operations and Parks Department vehicles.
• Appointments to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.
• A schedule for future think tanks.
• Acceptance of a complete streets grant for a Francis Street wheelchair ramp project.
County commission
Clallam County commissioners will discuss the temporary closure of Woodcock Road at Ward Bridge at 9 a.m. Monday.
The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The proposed closure would take place from June 17 to Sept. 20 for repairs to the bridge, county officials said. Detours would be in effect.
Other items for the work session include a resolution continuing relationships with Washington Counties Risk Pool and related appointments and designations.
Commissioners will conduct their weekly business meeting after the work session Monday.
There will be no Board of County Commissioners meeting Tuesday.
Action items for Monday include:
• A right-of-way purchase for Dry Creek Road reconstruction.
• A bid award to DelHur Industries, Inc., for an Olympic Discovery Trail segment from Freshwater Bay Road to Thompson Road.
• A resolution initiating a countywide paving and road repair project.
Olympic Medical
Olympic Medical Center commissionaires will consider an emergency services agreement when they meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Commissioners will meet in Linkletter Hall located in the basement conference area of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.
They will consider a pact with Peninsula Emergency Services, Inc.
They also will consider a revised organization chart and the 2019-2022 strategic plan.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will discuss superintendent transition when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.
The board will meet at 503 N. Sequim Ave.
The open meeting will be preceded by an executive session to review the performance of a public employee. No action is to be taken upon opening the pubic meeting.
Superintendent Gary Neal will resign after this school year. He has been informed that he has too many vacation days to “buy back” and if an arrangement can’t be made, his last day would be Saturday.
Also on the agenda are several policies including second readings of policies for homeless students rights, sexual harassment of students and protection of student information.
The School Board also will consider adoption of Eureka math.
Fire District 3
Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will consider a conditional offer of employment when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Commissioners meet at 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
They also will consider a sick leave buy back memorandum of understanding, an advance hire of a firefighter/emergency medical technician and hear a report from the fire chief.
The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
Planning commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission meeting for Wednesday is canceled due to staff unavailability.
The commission will reconvene June 19.
