EYE ON CLALLAM: Port Angeles City Council to mull changes to ethics code Tuesday

Port Angeles City Council members will consider revisions to the city’s ethics ordinance when they meet in regular session Tuesday.

They will meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

The meeting will be preceded by a closed-door executive session at 5 p.m. at the same location to discuss potential litigation.

At the regular meeting, the council will go through a first reading of an addition to the ethics ordinance that would address instances of multiple complaints and claims made against a public official based on conduct arising from a single action or event.

They also will discuss the Civic Field lighting replacement project and hear a report on the ad hoc fluoridation committee.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss a proposed request from Health and Human Services Environmental Health for a stable funding source for mandated foundational on-site septic system programs Monday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other discussion items include:

■ The hearing examiner selection process.

■ A proposed easement purchase for the Carlsborg sewer project.

■ A contract amendment with the state County Road Administration Board to increase funding for a Dry Creek Road paving project.

The work session also will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

■ An agreement from the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to allow outside counsel to continue work on a matter of pending litigation, Lange et al. v. Clallam County et al., Kitsap County Superior Court 14-2-01064-0.

■ A easement purchase for the Carlsborg sewer project.

■ An agreement with Aldergrove Construction Inc. for Clallam County Fairgrounds floral barn structural improvements.

■ A contract with Bruch & Bruch Construction Inc. of Port Angeles for crushed rock product supply.

■ Authorization of an expenditure from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund to the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau.

■ Authorization of mileage reimbursement for members of the Trust Land Advisory Committee.

An executive session will be held at 1 p.m. for pending litigation.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will conduct a special meeting on timber issues when it meets in Forks on Monday.

Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. at the Olympic Natural Resources Center, 1455 S. Forks Ave.

On the agenda are advanced wood products and timber advocacy, a cross-laminated timber pilot project, an update on the American Forest Resource Council, arrearage calculations, timber advisory committee formation and carbon tax and sequestration.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a staff presentation on the I-732 Carbon Pollution Tax initiative’s impacts to ratepayers ­Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office at 104 Hooker Road.

Other agenda items include contractor prequalifications and an update from the water and wastewater superintendent.

Planning Commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will discuss a Carlsborg capital facilities plan Wednesday.

The work session will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse.

County staff is preparing an update to a 2000 capital facilities plan that establishes goals and polices for the provision of infrastructure and government services necessary for the implementation of an urban growth area for Carlsborg.

Olympic Medical ­Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will consider an emergency department physician agreement when they meet Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 12:30 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.

They also will consider organizational chart revisions and hear an update on anesthesia services.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will consider adopting a nutrition and fitness policy with a new school wellness program when it meets Monday.

The regular session will be at 6:30 p.m. at 503 N. Sequim Ave. It will be preceded by a 5:30 p.m. workshop on business operations and human resources.

The board also will consider updating emergency drill requirements and its policy on nonresident students and a new policy on promotion and retention.

Fire District 2

Clallam County Fire District No. 2 commissioners will discuss a crew installation project Tuesday.

The special meeting will be at 9 a.m. at 102 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles.
