EYE ON CLALLAM: Port Angeles City Council to hear from ad hoc fluoridation panel

Port Angeles City Council members will receive an update on an ad hoc committee on fluoridation when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

It will be preceded by a special meeting at 5 p.m. at the same location that will include a special presentation by a National Park Service representative on the Elwha River.

The regular council meeting will include a verbal report on the fluoridation committee by Councilman Brad Collins, who has voted for fluoridation of the city’s water supply, and Councilwoman Sissi Bruch, who has voted against it.

The meeting also will include a public hearing on an Olympic Medical Center street vacation petition, a 2016 budget amendment and discussion on a letter of support for a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant application.

The consent agenda includes discussion of a lease for the Carnegie Library, final acceptance of a Marine Drive water main replacement project and an 11th Street infrastructure development agreement.

County commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss a proposed ad hoc committee to review hearing examiner applications in their weekly work session Monday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other discussion items include:

■ Next steps regarding an office of citizen complaints as recommended by the Clallam County Charter Review Commission.

■ An Opportunity Fund grant request from the William Shore Memorial Pool District to fund a preliminary design options study for an aquatic center expansion.

■ A Coast Guard briefing on a transit protection system proposed on Ediz Hook.

■ A grant application questionnaire for a segment of the Spruce Railroad Trail at Lake Crescent.

■ Notice of a call for bids for crushed rock product supply.

■ A proposal for enhanced citizen communications.

Commissioners will conduct their formal business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

■ A proclamation recognizing April 3-9 as National Public Health Week.

■ A contract amendment with the state Department of Health adding funding.

■ Notice of a call for bids for floral barn structural improvements at the Clallam County Fairgrounds.

■ A request for proposals for evaluation template development and data analysis for Chemical Dependency/Mental Health Program Fund direct services.

■ A resolution authorizing expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund to increase approved funding to the Clallam Bay/Sekiu Chamber of Commerce by $10,000.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss aviation lease incentives to attract aeronautical business when they meet Monday.

Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at port administrative offices, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.

During a morning business meeting, they will consider a change order for Harbor Group, a sediment recovery zone evaluation and the Arrow Marine lease.

During a morning work session, they will discuss an advisory panel report on marinas and a master plan update.

At 1 p.m., commissioners will hear community partner presentations.

Three public comment periods are planned. They are at the beginning and end of the morning meeting and at the end of the afternoon meeting.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider a 2016 agreement with the Clallam County Economic Development Council on Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.

Other agenda items include:

■ Authorization of a loan from the electric system to the water system to expand a mapping system developed by the electric system for use by the water system.

■ A bid award for roof replacement at the Port Angeles transformer shop.

■ Contractor prequalifications.

Planning commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will continue to review a proposed 2014 draft shoreline master program update Wednesday.

The work session will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse.

The focus of the discussion will be on state Department of Ecology comments on wetland buffers, wetland mitigation ratios and channel migration.

Olympic Medical ­Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear updates on construction projects when they meet Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 12:30 p.m. in Linkletter Hall at the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.

They will hear about Port Angeles medical office building change orders and an equipment and furniture capital request, a roof repair and nurse call station for a CT room remodel, bulk medical oxygen agreement, an exterior hospital doors capital request and the downtown clinic remodel.

Forks city council

A quorum of the Forks City Council may attend a community meeting on emergency preparedness Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 10 a.m. at the Rainforest Arts Center, 35 N. Forks Ave.

No action will be taken.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board meeting originally set for Monday has been canceled.

The next meeting will be April 18.
