The Port Angeles City Council will appoint a three-person ethics committee to consider a complaint against Deputy Mayor Cherie Kidd and consider the structure of an ad hoc committee to study water fluoridation when it meets Tuesday.
The council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St. It will be preceded by a special meeting at 5:40 p.m. to hear a presentation on Socrata Open Budget.
The ethics panel will be chosen from a pool of eight people who were appointed earlier and have agreed to extend their service despite a lapse in their term of appointment. Kidd will not participate in the selection.
Council members Sissi Bruch and Brad Collins will present names for an ad hoc committee that will have as its goal “to bridge the divide that exists in the community related to the issue of fluoridation, and to look for viable alternatives that recognize the importance of oral health in the community.”
The council will consider acceptance of three stormwater quality grants from the state Department of Ecology.
The council also will consider:
■ An amendment to the contract with Herrera Environmental for work on the Ranney well, increasing the total by $78,000 to $111,000.
■ Deleting shared-space provisions in its interlocal agreement with Clallam County Fire District No. 2.
■ Approving an annual agreement with the Olympic Peninsula Tourism Commission.
■ Final acceptance of projects by Olympic Electric Co. Inc. to replace 10 downtown light poles and replace sodium street lighting on Eighth Street with LED lights, as well as an overhead reconducting project by Michels Power, a tree-trimming project by Asplundh Tree Expert Co. and City Hall and PenCom upgrades by JMG Constructors LLC.
■ Setting a public hearing for 6:30 p.m. March 15 for vacation of a portion of Columbia Street.
■ A cable franchise ordinance.
County commissioners
The three Clallam County commissioners will hear a report from the Clallam County Family YMCA on its projected costs for reopening the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center when they meet Tuesday.
Commissioners will meet in a work session at 9 a.m., followed by a regular meeting in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The county is considering awarding a grant of $731,705 for capital replacement needs for the aquatic center. The money would come from the Opportunity Fund.
Commissioners also will discuss a draft agreement with the Economic Development Corp. incorporating a new scope of work with specific deliverables.
They will consider additional work by BergerABAM Inc. on planning and replacement of McDonald Bridge for $339,277.
Commissioners will consider an agreement with William Payne to extend his hearing examiner services until May 31.
Commissioners also will consider agreements with:
■ Dynamic Collectors Inc. for Superior Court clerk collection services.
■ Duncan Fobes and W. Dale Kamerrer for outside counsel under a special deputy prosecutor appointment to continue work on matters of pending litigation.
■ The state Department of Corrections to house offenders in the jail.
■ The state Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs to establish and maintain a 24/7 sobriety program.
■ Jeremy K. Myer and Sabrina Hamm to purchase land for the reconstruction of Lower Elwha Road between Edgewood Drive and Kacee Way.
■ Michael Olson and Peter Saari to purchase an easement for the Carlsborg sewer project.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will consider soil contamination at the site of the new Medical Office Building across the street from the hospital when they meet Wednesday.
Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.
Commissioners also will hear reports on the heart center, operations and advocacy.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will consider a policy on suicide prevention when it meets Tuesday.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. for a workshop and at 6:30 p.m. for a regular meeting at 503 N. Sequim Ave.
The meeting has been rescheduled from its usual Monday date because of the Presidents Day holiday.
New state law requires school districts to have plans in place for recognizing, screening, referring and responding to students in distress.
The board also will consider policies on academic acceleration, federal cash and financial management, and allowable costs for federal programs.
At the workshop, Ann Renker, assistant superintendent, will present an overview of teaching and learning.
Forks City Council
A quorum of the Forks City Council may be in attendance at Mayor Bryon Monohon’s State of the City address at the Forks Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday.
The address will be at noon at 1222 S. Forks Ave.
If a quorum attends, it will constitute a special meeting. No action will be taken.
Clallam PUD
The Clallam County Public Utility District meeting originally set for Monday has been canceled because of the Presidents Day holiday.
The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at 104 Hooker Road, Sequim.
