EYE ON CLALLAM: Port Angeles City Council to consider ethics board recommendation Tuesday

Port Angeles City Council members will consider admonishing Deputy Mayor Cherie Kidd when they meet Tuesday.

The regular meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

It will be preceded by a 5 p.m. executive session to discuss potential litigation and, at 5:45 p.m., to return to open session to hear a presentation on Socrata Open Payroll.

A three-person board of ethics, which considered a complaint against Kidd, recommended Tuesday that she be orally admonished for cutting short public comment speakers at a Feb. 2 council meeting that she chaired and for abruptly adjourning the meeting.

Council members also will conduct a public hearing on a petition for street vacation from Olympic Medical Center and consider a lease agreement for the second floor of the former fire hall at 215 S. Lincoln St. with Peninsula Area Public Access.

They also will consider a declaration of emergency for a structure fire on an unstable bluff and a construction management services contract amendment for the landfill stabilization project, as well as amending a state Department of Fish and Wildlife rearing channel lease agreement and considering a resolution for customer service standards for cable television franchises.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on proposed modifications of county policy concerning veterans assistance when they meet Tuesday.

The hearing will be at 10:30 a.m. after the meeting begins at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

A Monday work session at 9 a.m. will preview items set for action Tuesday.

On Friday, commissioners plan an executive session at 9 a.m. to review the administrator’s performance.

Agenda items for Tuesday include:

■ Opening bids for Superior Court Clerk’s Office carpet replacement and online video streaming services.

■ Agreements with Edward J. Reindel Jr. and Carlsborg MHP LLC, a Washington limited liability company, to purchase an easement for the Carlsborg sewer project.

■ Agreement with Michael Gillespie to purchase property for the Lower Elwha Road reconstruction project.

■ Request for full reconveyance of deed of trust with Myrtle Geraldine Gooding.

Agenda items for the Monday work session include briefings on emergency management, Trust Lands Advisory Committee, Economic Development Corp. and Peninsula Area Public Access.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss an executive director profile when they meet Monday.

The special meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at 338 W. First St.

Karen Goschen, port finance director, is acting as interim executive director until a permanent hire is selected to replace Ken O’Hollaren, who left at the end of 2015.

Commissioners also will discuss Wild Olympics legislation, bylaws, commission roles and responsibilities and master policy.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will discuss results of a community listening survey when it meets Monday.

The board will meet in regular session at 6 p.m., preceded at 5:30 p.m. with a workshop to evaluate the superintendent. Both meetings are at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

The board will consider new facilities rental rates.

It will consider adopting changes in policies on emergency treatment, excused and unexcused absences, and meeting conduct, and introduce policy changes on emergency drills and nutrition and physical fitness.

Clallam Transit

Clallam Transit board members will consider submitting a grant application for 2018 vehicle purchases Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at the Clallam Transit System administration building at 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

The application would be made to the state Department of Transportation.

Other agenda items include discussion of a summer youth Adventure Pass promotion and the Peninsula College Automotive Technology Internship Program.

Board of Health

The Clallam County Board of Health will hold a continued discussion on 2016 priorities Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse.

County health officials have identified opioid use, nutrition and chronic illness, nicotine, water quality program funding, oral health and mental health as the top six priorities for the year.

Planning commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the 2015 second half current use assessment applications Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse.

The panel also will continue review of the draft 2014 shoreline master program update.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear an update on the strategic plan when they meet Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider a proposal for refunding Series 2008 electric revenue bonds when they meet Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.

Commissioners will hear about conservation efforts.

They plan an executive session to discuss litigation or potential litigation.

Peninsula College

The Peninsula College board of trustees will meet in Forks on Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 2 p.m. at the Forks branch at 481 S. Forks Ave.

Port Angeles schools

A quorum of the Port Angeles School Board will attend the Washington Association of School Administrators Awards Dinner on Monday.

The dinner will be at the Clearwater Casino and resort in Suquamish.
