The Port Angeles City Council will conduct a first reading on a proposal to restrict plastic bags at stores within the city at meeting that begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth.St., Port Angeles, preceded by an executive session to discuss potential litigation at 5 p.m.
A public hearing on the plastic bag proposal will begin at 6:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter.
The council will vote on the ordinance at a future meeting.
The council also will accept public comment on the water system plan update and the water use efficiency program.

Other agenda items for the Tuesday meeting include:
• An ordinance adopting policies for purchasing and bidding.

County commissioners
Clallam County commissioners will discuss the county administrator’s position during a meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.
The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Current county administrator Jim Jones has announced that he plans to retire this year.
Other discussion items for the work session include:
• Installation of Sequim-area ballot boxes.
• An Opportunity Fund request from the William Shore Memorial Pool District.
• A letter thanking the Clallam Conservation District for submitting an action request through Puget Sound Partnership for the Dungeness off-channel reservoir.
• An agreement with Jefferson County regarding the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee.
• An agreement with Aqua Terra Cultural Resource Consultants to provide resources services for the Lower Dungeness Floodplain Restoration project.
• Proposed amendments to fees schedules in planning, building and building valuation divisions.
• A briefing on the Shoreline Master Program update.
Prior to the work session, commissioners will discuss water resource issues at 7:30 a.m. in the small conference room in the commissioners’ suite, Room 150.
Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
• A letter of support for Pat Neal’s nomination for a state Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation special achievement award.
• A proclamation recognizing March as developmental disability awareness month.
• A proclamation recognizing March as oil spill preparedness month.
• Agreements with Olympic Community Action Programs, Concerned Citizens, The Answer for Youth, Peninsula Behavioral Health, North Olympic Regional Veteran’s Housing Network, Healthy Families of Clallam County, Forks Abuse Program, Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics for affordable housing and homeless housing services.
• A proposed bid award to Delhur Industries, Inc. for an annual supply of crushed rock.
• A resolution appointing Eric Hibbard and Brian N. Cays to the Permit Advisory Board.
• Resolution appointing Susie Winters and Jennifer States to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
• A public hearing on proposed amendments to public records policy.
Planning commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission will conduct a work session on a proposal to repeal and replace landscape requirements in the county code at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The work session will begin in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
The draft ordinance includes a new purpose statement, applicability, general landscape requirements, landscape plans and requirements, parking lot requirements, screening of refuse dumpsters, plant standards and an alternative landscape plan.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear about the Top 100 Rural Community Hospital Award when they meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Commissioners will meet in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.
They also will discuss employment agreements.
Port Angeles schools
The Port Angeles School Board will discuss public records requests when it meets at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The board will meet at the Central Services Building, 216 E. Fourth St.
It also will hear an update on the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula and reports on the Highly Capable Program and truancy.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will consider several policies when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.
The board will meet in the district office at 503 N. Sequim Ave.
The regular meeting will be preceded by a board self-assessment from 5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.
The board will consider final approval of a policy on students with disabilities. It will hear on a first reading policies on Title 1 parental involvement and Learning Assistance Program.
Fire District 3
Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will discuss a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Commissioners will meet at 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. They also will discuss standard operating procedure for vacation leave, personal protective equipment and infectious disease control, as well as property tax exempt status of 305 Fifth Ave.
Clallam PUD
There will be no meeting of the Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners Monday.
The next meeting will be on March 12.
