EYE ON CLALLAM: PASD to consider response to COVID-19 case rise

The Port Angeles School Board will discuss COVID-19 infection rates in Clallam County and how that applies to the district’s instructional delivery model during a special meeting at 5 p.m. today.

The meeting is open to the public. There will be no community comments during the meeting.

County commissioners

Clallam County commissioners will interview four candidates for the Clallam County District Court No. 2 judge’s position beginning at noon Monday.

Current Forks-based District Court No. 2 Judge Erik Rohrer has announced that will retire effective Feb. 1.

The four candidates are William Payne, Lisa Dublin, Bruce Hanify and Natalie Ghayoumi.

Commissioners will conduct their weekly work session beginning at 9 a.m. Monday.

Agenda items include:

• A Charter Review Commission recommendation for the Department of Community Development, or DCD.

The Charter Review had recommended that commissioners and DCD agree to commission a third-party review of county ordinances and solicit a report on proposed changes to ordinances and operating procedures to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the department.

• A discussion on county priorities.

• A discussion on climate change.

• A request for waiver of bid requirement with Mobility Concepts, Inc. for a stair-lift to provide access to the upper floor of the Clallam County Courthouse.

• Behavioral health funding recommendations.

• A contract with Salish Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization for therapeutic courts.

• A resolution authorizing the Board of Equalization to convene.

• A resolution authorizing expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund for approved 2021 lodging tax funding applications.

• A resolution appointing Cheryl Martin to the Fair Advisory Board.

• A resolution appointing Daryl Trowbridge to the Homelessness Task Force.

• A resolution appointing Sarah Kincaid to the Boundary Review Board.

• A resolution appointing Christy Cox and Brian Tate to the Solid Waste Advisory Board.

• A resolution appointing Travis Hedin to the Behavioral Health Program Fund Advisory Board.

• A monthly budget performance review.

Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

At 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the board will conduct a public hearing for consideration of a six-year Transportation Improvement Program.

Other agenda items for the Tuesday meeting include.

• Notice of a request for proposals for a homeless gaps and needs analysis.

• A resolution reappointing and appointing Lourene O’Brien, Charles Meyer and Alan Barnard to the Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee.

• A resolution reappointing Bill Hermann, Bruce Guckenberg and Joseph Murray to the Opportunity Fund Board.

• A resolution appointing Jody Jacobsen to the Behavioral Health Program Fund Advisory Board.

• A resolution appointing Alan Caverly, Jonathan Andrus, Laura Johns and Bonnie Hurd to the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee.

• A resolution reappointing Rebecca Korby, Sharon Maggard and Corrie Matlock-Hightower to the Homelessness Task Force.

• A resolution appointing Alisa Hasbrouck, Ann Stafford, Mary Sue Brancato, Navarra Carr and Jeff Ward to the Marine Resources Committee.

• A resolution appointing Ingrid Carmean to the Planning Commission.

• A resolution appointing Helen Andersen to the North Pacific Coast Lead Entity for Salmon.

• Resolutions adopting budget reductions and supplemental appropriations.

• Certification of taxing district levy budgets.

• An update on the proposed 2021 county budget.

• A public hearing for consideration of debatable budget emergencies.

• A public hearing on proposed levies for general purpose property tax, road fund property tax and conservation futures.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will hear an update on COVID-19 and consider an application for a federal grant for the Marine Trades Center when it meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Commissioners will consider authorizing an application to the U.S. Economic Development Authority for a $7.2 million grant for development of the center.

Sequim city

The Sequim City Council will when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

Forks city

The Forks City Council will conduct a 2021 budget hearing at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Other agenda items include a duplex ordinance to permit dual single family dwellings.

Quillayute Valley

The Quillayute Valley School District will consider approval of a placing a replacement educational programs and operations levy on a ballot when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Cape Flattery schools

The Cape Flattery School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider a resolution in appreciation of Commissioner David Anderson for his service at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
