EYE ON CLALLAM: ODT agreement on county agenda

Clallam County commissioners will consider an agreement with Green Crow Timber, LLC for the Olympic Discovery Trail on Tuesday.

Other agenda items include:

•An agreement with the state Administrative Office of the Courts for minor guardianship cases.

• A resolution appointing LaTrisha Suggs, Christopher Burns and Lisa Law to the Marine Resources Committee.

• A resolution appointing Johanna Bartee to the Opportunity Fund Board.

• A resolution appointing Suggs to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

• A resolution appointing John Hunter to the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee.

• Notice that a budget reduction, budget revision, supplemental appropriations and debatable budget emergencies will be adopted Feb. 23.

• Notice of a Feb. 23 public hearing on proposed changes to the county building and construction code.

• Certification of the annual road levy.

Commissioners will conduct their weekly business meeting at 9 a.m. Monday.

Discussion items include an agreement with the Clallam County Economic Development Council. The board will reconvene at 1 p.m. Monday to discuss state House Bill 1406, which seeks to establish a 1 percent wealth tax on intangible financial assets of more than $1 billion.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will conduct a special meeting when they meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Public Utility District

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider establishing excess capacity network access charges at 1:30 p.m. Monday. For viewing options and instructions for making public comment, visit the district’s website at www.clallampud.net.

Other agenda items include a call for bids for a transmission pole replacement project with distribution and fiber from Airport Road to Cherry Street in Port Angeles. The engineer’s estimate is $850,000.

Conservation District

The Clallam Conservation District board will consider a letter of support for the breaching of the lower Snake River dams at 3 p.m. Tuesday. For viewing options, click on the district’s website, www.clallamcd.org.

Other agenda items include an onsite septic system cost-share agreement, a cultural resources consultant agreement and a long-range habitat plan update.

Sequim city

The Sequim City Council will discuss COVID-19 reopening support and public input when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday. To join the meeting, go to https://zoom.us/j/91235464249. or call 253-215-8782. The ID is 912 3546 4249.

The council also will consider interim regulations and control for some land use decision.

Reports will be given on Fourth of July fireworks and City Council recruitment.

Council member Brandon Janisse had requested the public input item be placed on the agenda to discuss, in part, how “we are going to build trust again” in light of recent news reports.

Peninsula College
