EYE ON CLALLAM: Joint meeting set for county, Port of Port Angeles

Clallam County commissioners and Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss the strategic role of the port’s log yard and the air-quality impacts of a biomass-fueled co-generation boiler in a joint meeting Monday.

The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. at the port administration building, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.

The port commission and county board also will hear quarterly reports from the Small Business Development Center and Clallam County Economic Development Corp.

Clallam County

Clallam County commissioners will discuss an agreement with the state Department of Commerce for improvements to the former juvenile services building in their weekly work session Monday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other scheduled discussion topics include:

• An agreement with Salish Behavioral Health Organization to support therapeutic courts.

• An agreement with the Office of the Secretary of State Division of Archives and Records Management for a technology upgrade.

• A resolution establishing an equipment rental schedule for 2019.

Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

• A resolution in support of the Dungeness River off-channel reservoir project.

• A letter to the state Department of Ecology for support of improvements to the Agnew Irrigation District’s outtake facility on McDonald Creek.

• An agreement with the state Military Department for a Homeland Security Grant renewal for funding a Sheriff’s Office emergency management program coordinator position.

• A request for proposals for 2019 Affordable Housing and Homeless Housing and Assistance funds.

• A request for proposals for chemical dependency and mental health services for 2019.

• Approval of an updated Clallam County Shoreline Master Program for submittal to the state Department of Ecology.

• A resolution adopting supplemental appropriations.

• A public hearing for consideration of debatable budget emergencies.

Clallam Transit

The Clallam Transit board will hold a budget workshop at 9 a.m. Friday.

The meeting will be held at the Clallam Transit headquarters, 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Discussion topics will include an update on the 2018 operating and capital budget, 2019 budget development and a review of the agency’s mission, vision and values statements.

No action will be taken.

Port Angeles School District

A quorum of the Port Angeles School District Board of Directors will attend a Roosevelt Elementary assembly Tuesday at 8 a.m., and the Turkey Day at Dry Creek Elementary on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 10:30 a.m.

No action will be taken.
