Clallam County commissioners will discuss a new site for the Emergency Operations Center and review a commercial lease with the Port of Port Angeles on Monday.
The work session will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The county is considering the use of a port-owned building near William Fairchild International Airport as a combined emergency operations and dispatch center.
Other discussion items for the work session include:
• Conservation futures and rates and charges.
• An agreement with the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy Community Services for victim and witness assistance grant funding.
• An agreement with the state Administrative Office of the Courts for support of a family and juvenile court improvement plan.
• An agreement with Salish Behavioral Health Organization for amended rates for outpatient services to increase Medicaid funding.
• A contract with the state Recreation and Conservation of Office for funding the final phase of the Spruce Railroad Trail.
• A right-of-way agreement for the Dry Creek Road construction project.
• An amended agreement with Shannon and Wilson for the Lower Dungeness floodplain restoration project.
• A resolution appointing Viola Ware and Christine Miko to the Behavioral Health Program Fund Advisory Board.
• A resolution appointing Nathan Tyler to the Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee.
Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
• Letters of support to U.S. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell and U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer regarding the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary.
• A letter of support to the Port Angeles School District regarding a proposal to move the Washington State University Extension Office to the Lincoln Center.
• An agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Lower Dungeness floodplain restoration project.
• An agreement with the state Department of Transportation for funding the McDonald Creek bridge replacement project.
• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology for funding stormwater planning.
• An agreement with the state Department of Commerce for funding the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team.
• An agreement with Lindberg Architecture for programming, schematic studies and cost estimates for construction of a proposed Emergency Operations Center building.
• Notice of bids for a deep test well project in Carlsborg.
• A resolution authorizing the sale of county tax title property.
• A resolution authorizing expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund for approved 2019 lodging tax funding applications.
Commissioners will hold a joint meeting with the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Council at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Blyn.
Agenda items include Indigenous People/Columbus Day, climate change and updates on the 7 Cedars hotel project and new behavioral health campus.
Port Angeles city
The Port Angeles City Council will hear a presentation on the value of trees at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth. St. An executive session is set for 5:15 p.m. on potential litigation.
Master arborist John Bornsworth is scheduled to deliver the presentation.
Other agenda items include:
• A second reading and public hearing on code amendments for the electric and wastewater utilities. The proposed changes would not affect rates.
• A 2.5-percent cost of living adjustment for management and non-represented employees.
• A parks maintenance building purchase.
• A contract award for the Lauridsen Boulevard overlay project.
• A think tank discussion on a charter of compassion and an AWC conference.
Fire District 3
Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will conduct a public hearing on a proposed renewal of a EMS levy before considering a resolution to offer the measure to the voters when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be at 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
Commissioners could make a decision Tuesday about whether or not to place the proposal on the November ballot.
The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners have canceled the meeting originally set for Wednesday.
The next board meeting is set for 6 p.m. July 17.
Planning commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission meeting for Wednesday has been canceled.
The commission will reconvene July 17.
