Clallam County commissioners Monday will discuss a Charter Review Commission recommendation that the county hire a forester to increase monitoring of state Department of Natural Resources management of trust lands.

“The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages approximately 92,000 acres of Clallam County trust lands for commercial forestry with a mandate to return revenue to the county and junior taxing districts,” the recommendation states.
“Hiring a forester would provide county oversight and involvement in the DNR activities associated with the county’s state managed trust lands.”

• Transition planning for the replacement of retiring District Court 2 Judge Erik Rohrer.
• A land donation agreement with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for the Towne Road dike relocation project.

• A 10 a.m. discussion on Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding.
• A briefing and notice of Oct. 27 hearing on a proposed fireworks ordinance.
• A briefing and notice of Oct. 27 hearing on a proposed changes to the Opportunity Fund program.
• A briefing and notice of Oct. 27 hearing on a proposed ordinance for an additional special tax on lodging.
• A resolution appointing Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin to the Homelessness Task Force.
• A review of the county’s five-year capital plan.
Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
• A letter of support to the Port of Port Angeles for runway resiliency for emergency response on the Olympic Peninsula.
• A proclamation recognizing Indigenous Peoples Day.
• A proclamation recognizing Disability Employment Awareness month.
• An agreement with Kitsap Public Health District for a commercial tobacco prevention program.
• An agreement with Quillayute Valley School District for transition program training.
• An agreement with Jefferson County for the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee.
• A contract with the Center for Tech and Civic Life for a COVID-19 response grant.
• A briefing and notice of Oct. 20 hearing on a proposed Opportunity Fund grant for the Carlsborg sewer extension.
Port Angeles city
The Port Angeles City Council will discuss a moratorium on evictions at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
