The three Clallam County commissioners will consider a resolution initiating the Kitchen-Dick Road safety project on Tuesday.
The county plans to widen a mile-long stretch of the road and improve its intersection with Woodcock Road by adding a southbound left turn lane.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Other items include:
— A Sequim Lavender Farm Faire request for fee waiver.
— A landowner acknowledgement form regarding the 3 Crabs Nearshore and Estuarine Restoration project proposed by the North Olympic Salmon Coalition in partnership with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
— An agreement with Department of Social and Health Services for support of individuals with developmental disabilities.
— A contract amendment with the state Department of Ecology changing the deliverables requirement on the shoreline master program update from adopted to draft.
— A contract amendment with the state Recreation and Conservation Office adding the state Department of Fish and Wildlife as a secondary sponsor of the Lower Dungeness River Floodplain Acquisition project.
— An agreement with Green Alliance for Veterans Education for the use of a portion of Robin Hill Farm Park as an agricultural plot for growing vegetables.
Commissioners will gather in the same room at 9 a.m. Monday for their weekly work session to discuss several action items and the following two items:
— A request from city of Sequim for a grant from the Opportunity Fund to develop infrastructure for the Burrowes property.
— The status of a historic fire hall.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will review the hiring process for a new interim executive director and the search for a permanent executive director to replace Jeff Robb when they hold their regular meeting Monday.
The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the meeting room in the port administrative offices, 338 W. First St. in Port Angeles.
Robb resigned June 24 and hired by the commissioners at the same meeting for the position of environmental affairs director.
Port commissioners also will review recycle data on the demolition of the former Peninsula Plywood mill site and discuss a consultant’s report on the Sekiu Airport layout plan.
Sequim City Council
The Sequim City Council will conduct a public hearing and consider preliminary approval of taking on indebtedness not to exceed $11 million in limited tax general obligation bonds to fund City Hall and police station construction when it meets Monday.
The council will meet at 6 p.m. at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.
Staff recommends that final approval of the bonds ordinance be July 22.
The council will consider adopting a building code revision concerning garages and the transportation master plan; and opening a public hearing on the shoreline master plan, then continuing it to July 22.
It also will hear a request from the Mariners’ Outlook Homeowners Association for the city to accept their neighborhood streets for public ownership.
Forks City Council
The Forks City Council will consider an agreement with the Quileute tribe to use the Quillayute Airport during the tribe’s hosting of travelers in the Paddle to Quinault at the end of July.
The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at 500 E. Division St.
The Quileute expect more than 100 canoes in LaPush beginning July 28 and leaving July 30 for the Hoh River, and are seeking use of the city-owned airport, about 10 miles west of Forks, for support vehicles, said Christi Baron, administrative assistant for Forks.
The destination of the canoes during the journey is Point Grenville in Taholah for a gathering hosted by the Quinault from Aug. 1-6.
The council also plans to discuss an animal control ordinance.
Fire District No. 2
Clallam County Fire District No. 2 commissioners will hold a work session on Tuesday to discuss upcoming district business.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the fire station at 102 E. Fifth St. in Port Angeles.
Conservation District
Clallam County Conservation District’s board of supervisors will hold its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the USDA Service Center, 1601 E. Front St., Port Angeles.
Agenda items include state conservation commission grants for the 2014 fiscal year and approval of a new cost-share policy.
Port Angeles Utility Advisory Committee
Port Angeles Utility Advisory Committee members will consider recommending to the City Council a $931,000 contract amendment for a design firm working on a fix to the city’s failing landfill problem when they meet Tuesday.
The meeting will start at 3 p.m. in thee Jack Pittis Conference Room at Port Angeles City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
The amendment would be the third to the city’s contract with Seattle-based Herrera Environmental Consultants for designing a way to prevent a failing bluff in west Port Angeles from releasing garbage accumulated in the city’s inactive landfill into the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Other agenda items include consideration of:
— An amendment to a professional service agreement with Bellevue-based HDR Engineering for possible replacement of a city water reservoir cover.
– An energy efficiency LED lighting promotional agreement.
– An update on the city’s utility cost of service analysis.
Public Utility District
The Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners’ work session for Monday has been rescheduled to July 29.
The next regular commission meeting will be July 15.
