EYE ON CLALLAM: County to discuss representative for Composite Recycling Technology Center board

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss a request from the Composite Recycling Technology Center for a county representative on its board Monday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Commissioners will hold their formal business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Agenda items include:

■ Introduction of Dr. Christopher Frank as the new county public health officer.

■ An agreement with Lutheran Community Services NW to provide child care associated with chemical dependency treatment services.

■ A resolution appointing a member to the Park and Recreation Advisory Board.

Port Angeles City Council

The Port Angeles City Council will consider approving an agreement in which the city would pay Clallam County $800,000 to take over all jail and court responsibilities when it meets Tuesday.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

The council also will consider approving a contract of between $150,000 and $200,00 with Vertigo Marketing for tourism marketing services.

It also will consider approval of a collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 589, the sworn officers unit.

The council will conduct a public hearing on a proposed increase of property tax by 1 percent in 2016.

Also on the agenda:

■ Consider accepting a $257,948 grant from the state Recreation and Conservation Office for City Pier transient float replacement. The city’s match would be $92,252 from the real estate excise tax proceeds.

■ Approve a cable access agreement with Peninsula Area Public Access.

■ Consider awarding a $66,809 contract to Carlson Sales Metering Solutions LLC of Vancouver, Wash., for purchase of 288 poly-phase electric meters. The meters will replace those being removed from service with the conclusion of the automated metering project.

■ Consider awarding a $27,070 contract with MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions of Seattle for wastewater treatment plant boiler repairs.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will discuss disposal of surplus property Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the PUD main office, located at 2431 E. U.S. Highway 101, Port Angeles.

Other agenda items will be completion of a contract with Mi-Tech Services Inc. and staff reports.

County Planning ­Commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will conduct a continued work session on the draft Shoreline Master Program on Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse.

The focus of the work session will be:

■ Draft chapter 4 — Policies and regulations for shoreline modifications.

■ Draft chapter 5 — General policies and regulations.

■ Draft provisions related to Lake Pleasant proposed shoreline environmental designations and shoreline buffers.

Olympic Medical ­Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2106 budget and 2016-18 strategic plan overview when they meet Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 12:30 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement conference area of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.

They also will consider a buildings preventive maintenance services agreement, a construction management services agreement and a Port Angeles medical office building project change order.

Sequim School Board

The Sequim School Board will consider a memorandum of agreement with Olympic Peninsula YMCA when it meets Monday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the district boardroom at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

If approved, the school district will provide $5,000 to the YMCA for a market feasibility survey of the Y managing the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center, which closed Friday.

The center could reopen if the center’s board and the YMCA reach an agreement.

Other agenda items are:

■ Superintendent evaluation, continued from previous meeting.

■ An executive session to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for employment, with action anticipated.

Sequim Parks and ­Recreation

The Sequim Parks and Recreation Board will consider submitting a recommendation to the City Council to pursue planning for a new parking lot at Carrie Blake Park when it meets Monday.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The board also will review master site planning for the Carrie Blake Park and Water Reuse Demonstration Site.
