Clallam County commissioners will discuss the Opportunity Fund when they gather at 9 a.m. Monday.
The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The Opportunity Fund is a portion of state sales tax that funds infrastructure projects in rural counties.
Commissioners will discuss the history of the fund, review current funding commitments, project the fund’s ability to support those commitments and measure the fund’s capacity for additional grants and debt service, according to an executive summary.
The fund had a balance of $4.05 million at the end of 2019, county officials said.
Other agenda items for the work session include:
• A city of Port Angeles Opportunity Fund request of $589,473 for the Port Angeles Waterfront Center building.
• A discussion on next steps regarding Senate Bill 6573 and House Bill 2791, which are intended to eliminate the reduction in state basic education funding that occurs in counties with federal and state forest lands.
• Resolutions closing two District Court II imprest funds.
• An agreement with K&H Printers for printing and mailing of 2020 presidential primary ballots.
• A contract with North Peninsula Building Association for an exhibit to be displayed at the NPBA Building Expo.
• A contract amendment with the state Department of Health to amend a statement of work for public health emergency planning programs.
• An update on the Parents for Parents coordinator position.
• A road improvement district discussion.
• A land purchase agreement with Selinco Properties, LLC for right of way for the Gilbert/Gupster Road project.
• An amended agreement with Anchor QEA, LLC for the Agnew Irrigation District’s irrigation outtake of McDonald Creek.
• An amended agreement with the state Recreation and Conservation Office for a North Olympic Peninsula Lead Entity for Salmon project.
Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
• A request for proposals for 2020 architecture and engineering consulting services.
• A proposal opening for the Health and Human Services Developmental Disabilities Millage Fund.
• A resolution appointing Timothy Fellin to the Peninsula Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
• A resolution closing the Board of Equalization Petty Cash Fund.
• A quit claim deed with the city of Forks for interest in the southern extension of Holly Avenue/Terra Eden Street.
• A request for final approval of an eight lot subdivision for Cedarland Forest Resources LLC.
• A public hearing on the vacation of a county right-of-way near the Dungeness River Center.
Port Angeles city
The Port Angeles City Council will consider approving a hazard mitigation plan at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth. St.
Other agenda items include:
• A second reading for authorization of a tax credit to support affordable housing under House Bill 1406.
• Appointment of a council ad hoc committee to review applications for boards, committees and commissions.
• Final contract acceptance of the Marine Drive channel bridge improvement project.
• Final contract acceptance of the Lauridsen Boulevard overlay project.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will consider a Sequim land purchase when they meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be in the Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.
Commissioners also will accept a donation from the Olympic Medical Center Foundation, hear audit results and conduct an executive session to discuss the performance of a public employee.
Planning commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission will elect officers and review bylaws at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
Other agenda items include a state Department of Natural Resources presentation on mineral lands and a review of the 2020 work plan.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will hear an update on the city’s Fir Street construction project when it meets at 6 p.m Monday.
The board will meet at 503 N. Sequim Ave.
The board also will consider the school calendar and policies on notification of threats of violence or harm and on school-based threat assessment, as well as public access to district records.
Fire District 3
Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will review an Assistance to Firefighters grant when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be at station headquarters, 323 N. Fifth Ave. in Sequim.
The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
Olympic Area Agency on Aging
The Olympic Area Agency on Aging, or O3A, Council of Governments will meet Thursday via conference call to review an amendment to the 2019-2020 state/federal contract.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
