Clallam County commissioners will discuss a resolution establishing salaries and benefits for elected officials at 9 a.m. Monday.
The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The county needs to revisit salaries and benefits for elected officials because the state increased salaries for Superior Court judges last July, according to an executive summary.
The salaries of county elected officials are based on a percentage of the salaries of Superior Court judges.
No changes in salary rates are being proposed.
Other agenda items for the work session include:
• An agreement with K&H Printers for printing and mailing of February special election ballots.
• A letter of intent to the state Department of Natural Resources regarding the purchase of parcels on River Road for the Dungeness River off-channel reservoir project.
• A discussion on the Port Angeles School District’s proposed levy.
• A discussion on candidates and next steps for a vacancy on the county Planning Commission.
• An update on 2020 Census activities.
Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
• Selection of a chair and vice chair for 2020.
• A request for proposals to hire an engineering consultant firm for stormwater management.
• A resolution designating commissioner involvement on advisory boards.
• A resolution establishing the Heritage Advisory Board.
• A resolution appointing David Brownell to the Heritage Advisory Board.
• A resolution appointing Josh Borte to the Fair Advisory Board.
• A resolution reappointing Mark Urnes to the North Olympic Library System Board of Trustees.
• A resolution appointing Gordon Taylor to the Trails Advisory Committee.
• A resolution appointing Glenn Teeter and reappointing John Robinson and Brian Adler to the Clallam Bay/Sekiu sewer advisory committee.
• A resolution reappointing Virginia O’Neil to the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee.
• A resolution reappointing Stephanie Lewis, Amy Miller and Grace Bell to the Behavioral Health Advisory Board.
• A resolution reappointing Robert Vreeland to the Marine Resources Committee.
• A resolution reappointing John DeBoer to the Homelessness Task Force.
• An agreement/paperwork with the state Department of Transportation to receive federal funding from the Federal Highway Administration.
• Notice of a Feb. 4 hearing for the proposed vacation of a county right-of-way near the Dungeness River Center.
Port Angeles city
The Port Angeles City Council will elect a mayor and deputy mayor Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth. St.
Other agenda items include:
• A presentation on Life Savings Awards.
• A discussion on a Washington Cities City Action Days conference.
• A discussion on legislative priorities.
• A discussion on a request for qualifications on a municipal code update.
• Approval of a lease extension for light operations.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will consider the superintendent’s contract when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.
The board will meet at 503 N. Sequim Ave.
It also will consider policies on the use of tobacco and nicotine products; family, medical and maternity leave; and rental or lease of district property.
Fire District 3
Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will conduct the oath of office and elect new officers when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Commissioners meet at 323 N. Fifth St., Sequim.
They also will hear reports on operations and logistics as well as from the fire chief.
The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
