EYE ON CLALLAM: County to consider state COVID-19 response funding

Clallam County commissioners will discuss a contract amendment with the state Department of Health which would add funding to the Health and Human Services budget for COVID-19 response at 9 a.m. Monday.

The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The proposed contract amendment would add a combined $1.25 million for the county’s pandemic response.

Other discussion items for the work session include:

• An amended agreement with the state Military Department for translator costs for COVID-19.

• A resolution closing the Parks, Fair and Facilities Office petty cash fund.

• A resolution establishing one new recording till in the Auditor’s Office.

• An amended agreement with the state Department of Social and Health Services for services for persons with developmental disabilities.

• A resolution appointing Shahida Shahrir to the Clallam County Board of Health.

• A “commissioner conversation” is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Monday for the board to discuss House Bill 1406, which would establishes a 1 percent wealth tax on intangible financial assets of more than $1 billion.

Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• A proposal opening for homelessness program funding.

• A proclamation recognizing March as Developmental Disability Awareness Month.

• An amended agreement with Jefferson County for the Shoreline Master Program.

• An amended agreement with the state Salmon Recovery Funding Board and the state Recreation and Conservation Office for the Kinkade phase of the Dungeness floodplain restoration project.

• A resolution closing Human Resources and Information Technology petty cash funds.

• A resolution for financial support for the Coast Counties Caucus Assessment.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will review comments from the open house on the Shoreline Master Program update when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

An executive session to discuss potential litigation is set for 4 p.m.

A public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 10 with the city planning commission and state Department of Ecology on the shoreline plan.

The council will consider replacing three Ford Crown Victoria police vehicles with Dodge Chargers at a cost of $154,500 and awarding a Risk and Resilience Assessment and Emergency Response Plan for the water utility, as mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Planning commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will conduct a work session on a draft ordinance for temporary uses of recreational vehicles Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will receive a COVID-19 update and hear an OMC Foundaiton presentation when they meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Sequim School Board will consider the contract with Superintendent Jane Pryne when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will discuss a training officer memorandum, collections policy and the CERT’s 2020 annual report at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
