Clallam County commissioners will discuss code enforcement in their weekly work session Monday.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Clallam County has one code enforcement officer who is working through a backlog of complaints.
Commissioners have been asked to fund a second position to help alleviate the backlog.
Other discussion items for the work session include:
• An update on 2018 indigent defense services.
• A monthly financial performance report.
• Authorization to approve a $15,000 expenditure from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund for a Peninsula Area Public Access television historical site video.
• A contract renewal with the state Military Department for reimbursement funding to Peninsula Communications dispatch center.
• A contract amendment with the State Patrol to expand reimbursement for the acting supervisor of the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team.
• An agreement with the state Department of Corrections’ Washington Corrections Center for Women for transportation of sentenced female inmates.
• A permit with Rayonier to allow county surveyors or private surveyors employed by the county to enter Rayonier timberlands to survey right-of-way for the development of the Olympic Discovery Trail in the Forks area.
• An overview of the Department of Community Development.
Commissioners will hold their weekly business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Agenda items include:
• An opening of proposals for chemical dependency and mental health services for 2018.
• A resolution appointing Charles Smith to the Building Code Board of Appeals.
• Notice of two public hearings on proposed rezones.
Port Angeles city
The Port Angeles City Council will hold a special meeting to review the 2018 proposed budget Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider ratifying emergency action to replace failing anchor chains in Port Angeles Harbor when they meet at 8 a.m. Monday.
The special meeting will be at port headquarters, 338 W. First St.
After a degraded chain was found during a buoy replacement, a survey found three others also degraded to the point that an extreme weather event would endanger them.
“The compromised nature of the anchors chains represents a real, immediate threat to the integrity of the aquatic log storage containment system,” staff said in a member.
Commissioners will consider ratifying action taken by the executive director.
The estimated cost of the project is $50,000. Work is expected to begin Monday.
Commissioners also will consider revisions to bylaws and conduct 2018 budget discussions.
Sequim City Council
The Sequim City Council will conduct public hearings on ordinances relating to dangerous dogs and to the Sequim Transportation Benefit District when it meets at 5 p.m. Monday.
The council will meet at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.
It will begin the meeting with a joint session with the planning commission on comprehensive plan amendments.
The biggest proposed change to the city’s dangerous dog ordinance is to prohibit dangerous dogs from living within the city limits. Such dogs already living in the city could remain so long as they are restrained according to state law. New dogs deemed dangerous would have to be euthanized, boarded or removed from the city.
The council will consider authorizing the city to assume the powers and functions of the transportation benefit district.
The council also will hear an update on the low-income utility rate relief program, conduct an overview of the 2018 budget and consider support of the proposed juvenile justice tax.
Forks City Council
The Forks City Council will consider setting 2018 budget hearing dates when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The council will meet at City Hall, 500 E. Division St.
Council members will discuss vacation rentals and speed limit revisions.
Clallam County Fire District No. 3
Clallam County Fire District No. 3 commissioners will hold a special meeting to conduct a workshop on the 2018 budget at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The special meeting will be at the headquarters station, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
North Olympic Peninsula Development Council
The North Olympic Peninsula Development Council will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the John Wayne Marina, 2577 West Sequim Bay Road, Sequim.
An agenda was not available as of Saturday.
Clallam PUD
The Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners’ meeting for Tuesday has been canceled.
The next business meeting will be Oct. 30.
