EYE ON CLALLAM: County to consider hybrid meetings

Government meetings thoughout Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss beginning hybrid meetings on March 14 when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The work session also will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Agenda items include:

• A hearing on granting Maple View Farm a franchise to use county roads.

• A hearing on amendments to the county’s employee benefits policy.

• A hearing on amending the county’s comprehensive plan map and the county’s zoning map.

• A contract with the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe to monitor Olympic oysters in Sequim Bay.

• An agreement with Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic for opioid use disorder treatment at the jail.

A request for a new, full-time assistant in the county’s emergency management section.

• An update on the county marine resources committee from Tim Cochnauer.

A proposal from Cascadia Consulting Group for $55,000 to perform a greenhouse gas inventory.

• A presentation from the North Olympic Regional Veterans’ Housing Network on how American Rescue Plan Act funds were disbursed and how these expenditures supported affordable housing for low-income households.

• An agreement for $2,250 with Sound Law Center for code enforcement hearing examiner services.

• A presentation from the Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County on how American Rescue Plan Act funds were disbursed and how these expenditures benefited the county’s homeless, disabled veterans.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

The association will also discuss current and emerging issues facing counties across the state.

County planning commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Board of Health

The Clallam County Board of Health will conduct a hearing on the repeal of the county’s secure medication return regulations when it meets at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will discuss a firefighter’s grievance when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
