Clallam County commissioners will consider awarding a bid for the McDonald Creek bridge replacement Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Orion Marine Contractors Inc. of Tacoma submitted the lowest of seven bids that commissioners opened in a public meeting last week.
Orion’s $3.07 million bid was below the $3.8 million engineer’s estimate for replacing the bridge that serves Old Olympic Highway.
Other agenda items for the meeting include:
• A letter of support for Pennies for Quarters for its efforts towards ending veterans’ homelessness.
• An agreement with the Jamestown S’Kallam Tribe for restoration services for the Lower Dungeness River floodplain restoration project.
• An agreement with Olympic National Forest to perform noxious weed control.
• Notice of a May 30 hearing on the county’s policy for purchasing, bids and contracts.
• Notice of supplemental appropriations to be adopted May 30.
• Final approval of a subdivision alteration to reconfigure three lots near the intersection of Cays Road and Dickinson Street.
• A public hearing on a revised hazard communication policy.
Commissioners will hold their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday to preview items set for action in future meetings and to discuss items of general interest.
Scheduled discussion items include:
• An agreement with the city of Port Angeles for field tests of a retrofitted commercial HVAC efficient pumping system.
• An agreement with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife for a fish passage barrier removal project.
• A discussion on proposed supplemental appropriations and budget revisions to be considered May 30.
• A monthly budget performance review.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider sending a letter to U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer about timber harvest level decisions when they meet Tuesday.
Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. at port headquarters, 338 W. First St.
They will consider advertising for bids for the Terminal 7 redevelopment and stormwater conveyance project, estimated at $2.46 million to $2.96 million.
They will consider whether to award a bid for construction of a laundry facility at Boat Haven.
Commissioners will consider authorizing a grant application to the state Department of Transportation to help complete an airport master plan and a ramp construction for Fairchild International Airport.
The master plan would be funded by $11,343 from Transportation, a local match of the same amount from the port and an estimated $226,862 in Federal Aviation Administration funds.
The ramp construction project would be funded by $22,325 from the state with an equal amount in matching funds and an estimated $401,850 in federal funds.
They will mull applying for grant and loan funding in the amount of $760,000 for improvements to the multi-tenant industrial building.
Port Angeles
The Port Angeles City Council will continue public hearings on the Medic 1 utility fee and the capital facilities plan and consider approving the ordinances when it meets Tuesday.
The council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St. A special meeting is set at 5 p.m. to discuss in executive session the price of real estate offered for sale or lease.
It will discuss the ethics ordinance, consider the strategic plan for 2017-18, the combined sewer overflow pump station 7 reconstruction purchase agreement, seasonal laborer wage increases and a professional services agreement for a Race Street design.
Clallam PUD
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a staff report on conservation targets Monday.
The work session will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.
Staff will report on activities toward meeting 2016-17 conservation targets, as mandated by the Energy Independence Act, and planning activities towards establishing a new target for 2018-19.
A solar incentive program will also be discussed.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will consider proposed increases in prices of school breakfasts and lunches for 2017-18 when it meets Monday.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. at 503 N. Sequim Ave.
Prices would increase by 10 cents to 65 cents.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear an update on the Swedish professional services agreement when they meet Wednesday.
Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.
Commissioners also will consider a service agreement for elevators, an agreement for electronic billing processes, stretchers for the short stay and an agreement for PET CT imaging.
Marine Resources Committee
The Clallam County Marine Resources Committee will discuss the current status of the Port Angeles Harbor cleanup Monday.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
Other agenda items include the determination of final intern projects, spatial planning and the election of committee officers.
Board of Health
Clallam County Board of Health will discuss the community opioid epidemic plan on Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
Other agenda items include the relocation of Peninsula Behavioral Health’s Horizon Center, Clallam County Health and Human Services programs and budget, legislative changes to a prescription management program and introduction of Public Health Nursing Supervisor Christina Rubin.
Opportunity Fund Advisory Board
The Clallam County Opportunity Fund Advisory Board will hear a presentation from the Quillayute Valley Park and Recreation District on a funding request for facility repairs Thursday.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in Room 230 at the Lincoln Center in Port Angeles, 905 W. Ninth St., Port Angeles.
Following the presentation, the advisory board could make a recommendation to county commissioners regarding the funding request.
