EYE ON CLALLAM: County, port to hear economic news at joint meeting

Clallam County and Port of Port Angeles commissioners will hear updates from the North Olympic Development Council and Clallam County Economic Development Corp., on Monday.

The joint meeting will begin at 11 a.m. at the port administration building, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include a Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship technical proposal.

Clallam County

Clallam County commissioners will discuss 2019 Homelessness Task Force funding proposals at meeting that begins at 9 a.m. Monday.

The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other planned discussion items include:

• A grant application for implementation of a third Chain Gang work crew to perform work on U.S. Forest Service land.

• An agreement with Beaman Architecture, Ltd. for a courthouse space assessment and law library floor analysis.

• Agreements with Morningside and Concerned Citizens for classes focused on teaching workforce readiness skills to youth and other job seekers with developmental disabilities.

• An agreement with Clallam Mosaic for classes and workshops focused on healthy relationships for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

• An agreement with First Step Family Support Center for a supported parenting project.

• An agreement with Concerned Citizens for classes focused on teaching individuals with developmental disabilities and their families how to set financial goals, understand income, expenses, budget and benefits and employment.

• An interlocal agreement with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe to provide food safety training, food service establishment assessments and consultative services to the tribe.

• A contract with North Peninsula Building Association for an exhibit to be displayed at the North Peninsula Building Expo on Feb. 16 and 17.

• An agreement with KONP Radio for an exhibit to be displayed at the Clallam County Home and Lifestyle show March 16 and 17.

Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Agenda items include:

• Recognizing Parks and Fair Supervisor Bruce Giddens for more than 18 years of service to Clallam County.

• An agreement with Thyssenkrupp Elevator Corporation for speed valve testing of the main courthouse and jail elevators.

• An amended agreement with the state County Road Administration Board for completion of a Rural Arterial Program project.

• An amended agreement with Correctional Healthcare Companies, LLC, for inmate health care services.

• A proposal opening for 2019 architecture and engineering consulting services.

• A resolution adopting supplemental appropriations.

• A call for Feb. 26 public hearing for the proposed vacation of a portion of Granite Road.

• Certification of the 2019 road levy and estimated revenue produced.

• A public hearing for consideration of debatable budget emergencies.

Sequim city

The Sequim City Council will hear a presentation on a draft Sequim Housing Action Plan when it meets at 5 p.m. Monday.

The council will meet at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The housing plan will be presented during a workshop. The council will consider sending it to the city planning commission for review.

During the regular session, which will begin at 6 p.m., the council will conduct a public hearing on an ordinance dealing with nuisance activity, and hear an update form the city manager on council goals.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will view a webinar titled “Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act Case Law Update” at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth. St.

No action will be taken.

The one-hour video is provided by the Municipal Research Services Center.

Forks City Council

The Forks City Council will consider a resolution related to the outdoor burning of storm debris Monday.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Forks City Hall, 500 E. Division St.

Discussion items on the agenda include a budget amendment ordinance and a fourth-quarter jail report.

Public Utility District

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider awarding a $1.4 million bid to Harbor Pacific Contractors, Inc., of Woodinville for the Deer Park pumping station at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in the Lake Crescent Boardroom at the Carlsborg main office at 104 Hooker Road.

Other agenda items include a invitation to bid for a three-phase power transformer without a load tap changer.

Marine Resources

A state Department of Ecology official will brief the Clallam County Marine Resources Committee on the current update of the Strait of Juan de Fuca Geographic Response Plan at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Geographic response plans guide early actions after oil spills, Ecology officials said.

Other agenda items for the MRC meeting include topics for the 2019 internship program, a state funding letter and a 2019-2024 strategic plan.
