EYE ON CLALLAM: County, port commissioners plan joint meeting

Clallam County and Port of Port Angeles commissioners will hear quarterly reports from the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship, Small Business Development Center, North Olympic Development Council and Clallam County Economic Development Council in a joint meeting at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

County commissioners

Clallam County commissioners will discuss awarding a third round of “Keeping the Lights On” grants to eight local organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic Monday.

The work session will begin after the joint meeting with the port.

The proposed grants from the county’s hotel/motel tax fund would be for the Dungeness Crab and Seafood Festival, Dungeness River Audubon Center, Forks Old Fashioned 4th of July Committee, Feiro Marine Life Center, Lincoln Park BMX Association, Sequim Irrigation Festival, Forks Chamber of Commerce and two for the Forks Timber Museum.

Other agenda items for the work session include an agreement with Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP) for operation of the COVID-19 Social Distancing Center.

Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

• Approval of the Homelessness Task Force funding recommendations.

• Right-of-way agreements for the Sequim-Dungeness Way/Woodcock Road roundabout project.

• A resolution establishing terms for representatives of the Conservation Futures Program Advisory Board.

• Notice of a July 6 hearing for the proposed vacation of a portion of North Larch Avenue.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Peninsula College

The Peninsula College Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

All public comments and questions should be concise and submitted in writing to kgriffith@pencol.edu.

Submissions will be accepted through 5 p.m. Monday. They should include name, email address and phone number. They will be read aloud and addressed during the meeting and made a part of the public record.

Excessively long submissions will be compiled and placed on the college website at a later date, according to a meeting announcement.

Conservation District

Clallam Conservation District commissioners will elect officers when they meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

They also will consider approval of program development draft procedures, supervisor complaint policy and a weather station service agreement.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will consider capital project management selection when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

Prior to the regular meeting, at 5 p.m., the board will recess into executive session at 5 p.m. to consider the position to be taken in collective bargaining.

Port of Port Angeles commissioners have canceled a meeting originally set for Tuesday.
