Clallam County commissioners will consider a revised agreement to file a lawsuit against manufacturers and wholesalers of prescription opioids in their weekly business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The revision by Keller Rohrback LLP attorneys reduces attorney’s fees from 22 percent to 20 percent on the first $10 million in recovery and from 20 percent to 18 percent on recovery between $10 million and $20 million.
Public hearings will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on debatable emergencies, i.e., an emergency allocation to the homeless task force of $55,000, adding $34,000 in funds contracted to Serenity House in 2017 that were not used to the 2018 budget, and changing a position in the Department of Community Development to allow funding of a code enforcement specialist.
Other agenda items include:
• Approval of a letter to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management for the 2019-2024 draft proposal of the National Oil and Gas Leasing Program.
• A change order for the courthouse replacement project.
• A supplement with the state Department of Transportation for the Ward Bridge Scour Repair project.
• A purchase order for a Trimble TX6 scanner package and use training for four deputies.
• A proposal opening for a new election tabulation system for the Auditor’s Office.
• A bid opening for crushed rock product supply.
A work session is planned at 9 a.m. Monday to preview items set for action at the Tuesday business meeting.
Clallam Transit
Clallam Transit board members will consider revision of non-represented personnel salary schedule when they meet at 1 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be at the Transit administration building at 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd.
Commissioners also will observe a moment of silence for retired general manager Dan Di Guilio, who died Jan. 30 in Florida of a sudden heart attack.
Other agenda items include considering updated bylaws for the Clallam County Public Transportation Benefit Area, updates on the general manager performance evaluation and comprehensive transportation plan, an annual parts inventory and update on the Strait Shot service.
A closed session is planned to discuss collective bargaining.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider a services agreement for 2018 with the Economic Development Corp., at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The special meeting will begin at 8 a.m. at the Port of Port Angeles building, 338 W. First St.
Commissioners also will consider accepting a public works contract and discuss a recreation and public access plan.
They will consider a lease with Clallam County for youth services.
Commissioners will conduct a special meeting at 12:15 p.m. Monday for an executive session to discuss current litigation.
Clallam PUD
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider approval of special residential electrical service discounts for low-income seniors and low-income disabled people when they meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be in the Lake Crescent Boardroom at the Carlsborg main office at 104 Hooker Road.
Commissioners also will consider approving contractor prequalification applications for 2018 for DJ’s Electrical Inc., and PAR Electrical Contractors for $2.5 million each.
They will consider authorizing purchasing a bucket truck for Port Angeles for no more than $359,203 and accepting delivery of a bucket truck for Forks from Altec Industries for $373,033.
They also will consider calling for bids for a pipe replacement on Scirvner Road.
An executive session is planned to discuss the performance of a public employee.
Sequim city
Sequim City Council will consider a contract award for the North Blake Avenue sidewalk contract when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.
The council will meet at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.
It also will consider a revised rate and fee schedule for facility rentals, a rainy day fund and purchase of two police patrol vehicles.
Forks city
The Forks City Council will discuss an ordinance to allow the discharge of firearms when authorized by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The council will meet at City Hall, 500 E. Division St.
The council also will conduct a public hearing on the proposed McGinley annexation and will consider a resolution on the reimbursement of capital expenditures from proceeds of a future borrowing.
Marine Resources
The Clallam County Marine Resources Committee will hear a project update on oil spill preparedness Monday.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
Committee member Arnold Schouten will provide an update on 2018 hazardous-waste operations and emergency response, or HAZWOPER, training and planned oiled wildlife training.
Committee Chairman Jeff Ward will preview an upcoming webinar called Staying Prepared in an Evolving World of Oil Movement.
Other agenda items for the meeting include and update on hiring of the executive director, an Opportunity Fund proposal and the 2018 summer intern program.
Quillayute Valley schools
The Quillayute Valley School Board will discuss February enrollment when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The board will meet in the library at Forks High School, 261 Spartan Ave.
It will hear a report on the January budget, consider an amendment to the service contract for early intervention and preschool special education as well as an agreement with the state Department of Transporation for signage.
