EYE ON CLALLAM: County panel to hear about emergency management plan

The three Clallam County commissioners will hear a briefing on the county’s comprehensive emergency management plan Tuesday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The board also will hear a briefing on treasurer issues and discuss a request for qualifications from architecture and engineering firms.

Commissioners will hold their weekly business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

• Selection of a chair and vice chair for 2017.

• A resolution designating commissioner involvement on advisory boards.

• A resolution appointing Alanna Gores as clerk of the Board of County Commissioners.

• Resolutions appointing or reappointing members to the North Olympic Library System Board of Trustees, Olympic Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, Marine Resources Committee, Permit Advisory Board, Heritage Advisory Board and Building Code Board of Appeals.

Port Angeles city

Port Angeles City Council members will discuss the Port Angeles School District’s Feb. 14 replacement levy election when they meet for their regular meeting Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

They will conduct a special public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the same location to interview planning commission applicant David Amoroso.

The appointment is included in the consent agenda of the regular meeting that follows and which begins with promotion ceremonies for police and fire department staff.

City Council members also will discuss a salary survey for nonrepresented staff and are scheduled to approve a collective bargaining agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Lodging Tax Committee

Port Angeles Lodging Tax Advisory Committee members will review and make recommendations to the City Council for 2017 event grants when they meet Wednesday.

The meeting will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will elect board officers when they meet Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 12:30 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 Caroline St.

They also will hear an update on the capital campaign for expansion of the Sequim cancer center as well as hear public comment on proposed levies for the Port Angeles and Sequim school districts.

They will hear state audit results for 2015.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will consider approval of school improvement plans when they meet Tuesday.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

Plans will be presented for Greywolf Elementary, Helen Haller Elementary, Olympic Peninsula Academy, Sequim Middle School, Sequim High School and Sequim Options School.

Board members also will consider final approval of policies concerning suicide counseling, anaphylaxis prevention and response and disciplinary action.

It will consider on a first reading a policy on restraint, isolation and other uses of reasonable force and will be introduced to a policy for homeless students.

Clallam PUD

There will be no Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners’ meeting on Monday.

The next meeting will be on Jan. 9.
