Clallam County commissioners will discuss the next steps to be taken in the search for a county administrator when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.
The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Commissioners rescinded a conditional offer to hire David Fraser as the next county administrator after an executive session Thursday, saying information showed he isn’t the “right fit” for the county.
Current County Administrator Jim Jones is retiring this fall.
Other discussion items for the work session include:
• An agreement with the state of Department of Ecology to fund Clallam Marine Resources Committee projects through 2019.
• An agreement with Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe to allow the county to be reimbursed for work performed for the tribe.
• A grant application questionnaire for the Clallam Bay-Sekiu sewer project.
• An agreement with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for prisoner confinement services.
• A contract amendment with the State Patrol to allow a State Patrol detective to participate in the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team.
• An agreement with Kitsap County to memorializing responsibilities for funding and grant requirements for Homeland Security grants.
• A Chemical Dependency/Mental Health Advisory Board discussion on the collection, analysis and reporting of data.
• Proposed changes to county Policy 220 – Classification, Work Hours and Compensation.
Commissioners will hold their weekly business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
• An agreement with the Federal Highway Administration for a segment of the Spruce Railroad Trail.
• An agreement with the state Traffic Safety Commission for continued reimbursement for Clallam County’s 24/7 sobriety program.
• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology and Environment, Inc. for consultant services to update the Clallam County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
• A request for proposals for phone and video services for the Clallam County jail.
• A resolution appointing Morgann Halencak deputy clerk of the board.
• Resolutions adopting supplemental appropriations and a budget reduction.
• A public hearing for consideration of a debatable budget emergencies.
• A resolution regarding the vacation of county rights of way on a portion of Correia Road.
Commissioners and public works staff will present the preliminary 2019 county budget and proposed six-year Transportation Improvement Plan at the Sequim Chamber of Commerce meeting Tuesday and the Forks Chamber of Commerce meeting Wednesday.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider a state Community Economic Revitalization Board funding award for a wash-down facility at the Marine Trades Industrial Park when it meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Commissioners will meet at the port administration building, 338 W. First St.
The Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) funding offered is for a $765,000 loan and a grant of $135,000.
Commissioners also will consider the granting of an easement to Judson Linnabary on Cedar Street.
Port Angeles city
The Port Angeles City Council will discuss code compliance in a special meeting Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth. St.
No action is expected to follow the discussion, according to the meeting notice.
Sequim city
The Sequim City Council will consider declining a million-dollar loan when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.
The council will meet at 152 W. Cedar St.
City staff is recommending that the council decline a $1 million loan from the Public Works Board with the state Department of Commerce for pre-construction tasks associated with Prairie Street revitalization.
The loan would be required to be repaid within five years which would be too costly for the city, staff said in an agenda memo.
The council also will consider setting an Oct. 8 public hearing on a proposed ordinance setting gross revenue thresholds for licenses for businesses located outside the city limits. The language is mandated by the state.
It is scheduled to give city Champion Awards to state Rep. Steve Tharinger and state Sen. Kevin Van De Wege and approving a certificate of appreciation for Shelli Robb-Kahler, former chamber director.
Library board
The North Olympic Library System board will consider approval of 2019 budget guidelines when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The meeting will be at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
The board also will receive background information fiscal planning with no action to be taken.
An executive session is planned to discuss collective bargaining.
Port Angeles Planning
The Port Angeles Planning Commission will hold a public hearing for a rezone application from Olympic Medical Center for 215 N. Francis St. at a meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be in the City Council chambers at City Hall.
Other agenda items include facade and sign grants for Peninsula Behavioral Health and Habitat for Humanity.
Forks City Council
The Forks City Council will present a childhood cancer awareness proclamation at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be in Forks City Hall, 500 E. Division St.
Other agenda items include a treasurer’s report and customary business.
Public Utility District
There will be no meeting of the Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners Monday.
