Clallam County commissioners will discuss a contract extension with the Clallam County Economic Development Corp. in their work session at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The work session will be in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Clallam County budgeted $60,000 in 2018 for the EDC compared to $125,000 in 2017. The contact for 2018 has not been signed.
Board Chairman Mark Ozias has urged the EDC to commit to improving gender diversity on its male-dominated top-level leadership.
Commissioners will discuss Monday what changes, if any, should be made to the proposed $60,000, one-year agreement between the county and the EDC.
Other discussion items for the work session include:
• A $490,000 proposed agreement with the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau for the promotion of year-round tourism.
• A contract with K&H Printers for the printing and mailing of February special election ballots.
• A resolution scheduling a Jan. 23 public hearing to declare one Glock 22 .40-caliber pistol with three magazines as surplus.
• A $15,754 contract with First Step Family Support Center for a supported parenting project.
• A consolidated contract with the state Department of Health for 2018-2020 public health services.
• A request for qualifications and letters of interest from architecture and engineering firms for 2018 professional services.
• A resolution designating commissioner involvement on advisory boards.
• A letter to approve the assembly permit application for the Olympic Relay Adventure.
Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items on the agenda include:
• An agreement with Olympic National Park to grow locally-sourced native plants at the Matt Albright Nursery.
• A contract with Peninsula Behavioral Health for dedicated tax funds for mental health counseling services to persons with developmental disabilities.
• Resolutions appointing Clea Rome to the North Olympic Library System Board of Trustees, Lorrie Mittmann to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, Joseph Murray to the Opportunity Fund Board, LaDona Wilson to the Fair Advisory Board and Judith Stipe and Larry Lange to positions on the Heritage Advisory Board.
• Resolutions reappointing Annie O’Rourke to the Permit Advisory Board and Tom Stokes to the Chemical Dependency/Mental Health Program Fund Advisory Board.
• A public hearing on proposed changes to Clallam County administrative policy for property control.
City of Port Angeles
The Port Angeles City Council will elect a new mayor and deputy mayor at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St. Incoming council members Kate Dexter, Mike French, Jim Moran and Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin will be sworn in at 5 p.m. Tuesday. A brief reception will follow the swearing in ceremony.
Other posted agenda items include:
• Recognition of Park View Villas fundraising for the Port Angeles Fire Department.
• A staff presentation on the roles and responsibilities of City Council members.
• The purchase of replacement computers for the police department.
• A resolution to purchase a Lincoln Park BMX starting hill gate.
• An amendment to an ambulance billing contract.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will elect 2018 board officers after John Miles and John Nutter are sworn in at a meeting at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.
Commissioners also will hear an update on the Board of Health and public input on a capital projects levy for the Port Angeles School District.
Fire District 3
Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will perform the oath of office and elect board officers when they meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The commissioners will meet in regular session at 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
A special meeting is planned at 11:30 a.m. that day in the same place to review and edit a proposed draft commissioners handbook.
The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
Port Angeles schools
The Port Angeles School Board will hear a report on athletics when it meets at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The board will meet at the Central Services Building, 216 E. Fourth St. An executive session is planned at 6 p.m.
Sequim schools
Sequim School Board members will hear a report on the city’s Fir Street project when they meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The board will meet in Room 124 at 503 N. Sequim Ave.
The board also will hear a report on facilities and consider several policies.
Clallam PUD
There will be no meeting of the Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners this week.
The next meeting will be Jan. 8.
