EYE ON CLALLAM: County eyes pact with Economic Development Corp. on Tuesday

Clallam County commissioners will consider a one-year contract with the Clallam County Economic Development Corp. on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The county has budgeted $150,000 in Opportunity Fund money this year for the Economic Development Corp., a nonprofit that works to support area businesses.

Other agenda items include:

■ Agreements with Superior Court and District Courts 1 and 2 for the handling of judicial administrative records.

■ A contract amendment with Berger ABAM Inc. increasing the amount for additional work on the McDonald Creek bridge project on Old Olympic Highway.

■ Notice of a March 15 hearing for proposed amendments to the county code for general parks and fairgrounds rules and regulations.

■ Adoption of a budget revision.

■ Adoption of five supplemental budget appropriations.

A public hearing will be held at 10:30 a.m. for consideration of six budget emergencies.

A work session will begin at 9 a.m. Monday for updates, briefings and items that will be voted on in future weeks.

Items for Monday’s discussion include:

■ A call for a hearing on the proposed sale of surplus sheriff’s office vehicles.

■ An agreement with outside counsel to continue working on a matter of pending litigation.

■ A request from the Health and Human Services Department to assist in the Peninsula Regional Support Network’s transition to the Salish Behavioral Health Organization.

■ A call for bids for a carpet replacement project for the Superior Court Clerk’s Office.

■ An update on the activities of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

■ Agreements for the purchase of easement for the Carlsborg sewer project.

■ A grant application for repairs to Joyce Piedmont Road.

■ An update on activities of the Marine Resources Committee.

■ An update on the lower Dungeness River floodplain restoration and levee realignment project.

■ An estuary watershed protection and restoration grant from the state Department of Ecology.

■ An Olympic Area Agency on Aging orientation, which is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

■ A climate change presentation by the North Olympic Development Council, which is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Clallam Transit

The Clallam Transit board will hold a public hearing to consider approval of service improvements for the No. 30 Sequim-Port Angeles commuter route Monday.

The hearing will begin at 1 p.m. at the Clallam Transit System headquarters at 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Board members also will consider appointing a city of Forks representative to the transit board standing committee, confirming an alternate representative for the Peninsula Regional Transportation Planning Organization executive board and a proclamation for Transit Driver Appreciation Day on March 18.

Carlsborg advisory council

The Carlsborg Community Advisory Council will elect officers and discuss a planning commission review of the council’s proposed recommendations Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Greywolf Elementary School library, 171 Carlsborg Road, Carlsborg.

Sequim City Council

The Sequim City Council will consider a resolution to adopt the Carrie Blake Park Master Plan during Monday’s regular meeting.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The city’s Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan — adopted Feb. 23, 2015 — identified the need to design a Master Site Plan for Carrie Blake Park and the Water Reuse Demonstration Site.

Over the past six months, staff has engaged with members of the Sequim community and stakeholder user groups at Carrie Blake Park and the Reuse Demonstration Site to design a master plan to help direct future park development.

Agenda items include:

■ A zoning regulations work plan.

■ A resolution adopting council rules.

■ Purchase of new police vehicles.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss several topics during Monday’s regular work session at 9 a.m. at 338 W. First St.

Work session topics include:

■ Work session expectations.

■ A strategic plan.

■ Log stacker purchase.

■ A Marine Trades Industrial Park update.

During their regular meeting Monday at 1 p.m., port commissioners will discuss upcoming conferences.

Clallam PUD

The Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners’ meeting for Monday has been canceled.

The next meeting will be Feb. 29.
