EYE ON CLALLAM: County eyes grant for pool expansion study

Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing to consider a $39,960 Opportunity Fund grant to the William Shore Memorial Pool District to study preliminary design options for expansion when they meet Tuesday.

The hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The Opportunity Fund Advisory Board recommended approval of the proposed grant in January.

Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

■ An agreement with the state Department of Commerce to provide a Secure Crisis Residential Center.

■ An agreement with the state Department of Social and Health Services to extend a court commissioner service contract.

■ A contract amendment with the state Department of Ecology to increase the budget for a solid waste enforcement grant.

Commissioners will hold their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday to discuss items set for action at future meetings.

Discussion items for this week include:

■ An update on the proposed Public Defender Advisory Committee.

■ A proposed amended contract with Salish Behavioral Health Organization.

■ Notice of calls for hearings for amendments to the six-year Transportation Improvement Program and on the regional allocation of Surface Transportation Program funds for 2016 through 2018.

■ A call for bids for an Olympic Discovery Trail crossing project from U.S. Forest Service Road 2918 to U.S. Highway 101 west of Lake Crescent.

■ A right-of-way agreement extension with Cingular Wireless.

■ A supplemental agreement with the state Department of Transportation for the Old Olympic Highway McDonald Creek bridge seismic retrofit project.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Puget Sound moorage modifications for the Coast Guard in their afternoon session when they meet Monday.

Commissioners will meet in a 9 a.m. work session and a 1 p.m. regular session in port headquarters at 338 W. First St.

At their morning workshop, they will consider advertising for bids for the marine terminal stormwater conveyance, Oak Street Pier (T4) and port security grants, the port’s role in workforce training and review of the lease template.

In the afternoon regular session, they will consider a landowner agreement for John Wayne Marina Olympia Oyster restoration and an amendment to the Moffatt and Nichol agreement.

Sequim city

Sequim City Council members will conduct a public hearing on a Wi-Fi and cell tower moratorium and review the fireworks ordinance when they meet Monday.

The council will meet at 5 p.m. at 152 W. Cedar St.

At the work session preceding the regular meeting, they will review the six-year capital improvement program.

They will conduct a public hearing on a proposed amendment to update the building code.

They will consider adopting long- and short-term goals.

Port Angeles utility committee

Port Angeles Utility Advisory Committee members will discuss a professional services agreement to replace the wastewater treatment plant’s biosolids dewatering system when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 3 p.m. in the Jack Pittis Conference Room at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

The panel will consider recommending that the City Council award a $268,040 contract to Kennedy/Jenks Consultants of Seattle for design and construction support for the $1.35 million replacement project.

Quillayute Valley schools

The Quillayute Valley School Board will hear a report on a state audit when they meet Tuesday.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the library at Forks High School, 261 Spartan Ave.

The board will hear an update on the Spartan Field project and review a revised policy on special education.

Clallam Conservation District

The Clallam Conservation District board will discuss the next phase of the Dungeness Irrigation District piping project Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Suite H at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include an engineering cluster update, a consulting engineer services contract, a contract with Diggin’ It! for the Adams culvert replacement bridge project and sustainable funding/rates and charges.

County planning ­commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will discuss critical area code provisions Wednesday.

The work session will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse.

The discussion will include an update of requirements for existing and ongoing agriculture within wetlands, aquatic areas and their associated buffers.

Olympic Medical ­Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear an update on the Olympic Community of Health when they meet Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. at Linkletter Hall in the basement conference area of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.

They also will consider auxiliary bylaws revisions, physician and hospitalist agreements, and hear a report on operations.

Peninsula College

Peninsula College trustees will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in the Cornaby Center at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Clallam PUD

The Clallam County Public Utility District meeting scheduled for Monday has been canceled.

The next meeting will be June 20.
