EYE ON CLALLAM: County considers franchise agreement with WaveDivision

Clallam County commissioners will discuss franchise agreements with WaveDivision, LLC. in their work session that begins at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Clallam County’s current cable franchise agreements with Wave are set to expire in May 2022. Chief Financial Officer Mark Lane has recommended that commissioners seek a one-year extension of the current franchise agreements, hire a consultant to review current franchises and negotiate terms of a new agreement.

Other agenda items for the work session include:

• A request for proposals for design of the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project.

• A letter of support for Clallam Transit System for a low- and no-emission vehicle program.

• A grant application with Olympic Community Health for COVID-19 recovery.

• Appointments and designations for the Washington Counties Risk Pool.

• A call for April 6, April 13 and April 19 hearings on Charter Review Commission recommendations.

• A 1 p.m. income report from the state Department of Natural Resources.

• Verbal approval for an amicus brief on trust mandate legislation.

• A letter of support for the Port Angeles Waterfront Center.

• An aquatic lands conservation agreement with the state Department of Natural Resources for the lower Dungeness River floodplain.

• An agreement with Serenity House of Clallam County for subcontractor construction services.

• An agreement with the city of Forks for a joint process and shared jurisdiction of a Solid Waste Management Plan.

• Notice that supplemental appropriations will be adopted March 30.

• A call for March 30 hearing for consideration of debatable budget emergencies.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will consider adopting a two-year strategic plan when it meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

An executive session is set for 5 p.m. to discuss potential litigation.

Board of Health

The Clallam County Board of Health will discuss public health legislation and receive a health officer’s report on COVID-19 at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear a report on the Complete Health Improvement Program when they meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider a Western Port Angeles Harbor Natural Resources Damage settlement when they gather in a special meeting at 1 p.m. Monday.
