The three Clallam County commissioners Tuesday will consider notifying the state Department of Revenue that the county’s sales tax rate will be restored to 8.4 percent effective April 1.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Commissioners last year lowered the sales tax rate to 8.2 percent in an effort to stimulate the local economy.
If the notice to the revenue department is approved, a public hearing will be held Jan. 26.
Before considering whether to restore the tax rate, commissioners will meet with other elected officials and county department heads in an extended work session at 1 p.m. Monday.
Discussion items for the extended work session include a projected budget deficit increase, a 360-degree review of the county administrator position and the re-establishment of a board department liaison list.
Commissioners will hold their regular work session at 9 a.m. Monday.
Discussion items for the regular work session include mileage reimbursement for board and committee members; an agreement with Jefferson County for the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee; a request for qualifications for surveying, engineering and environmental services; and an update on the Carlsborg sewer project.
An executive session will be held at 11 a.m. Monday for commissioners to discuss with retained counsel matters relating to personnel litigation.
The work session also will preview items set for action at the formal board meeting, which begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Agenda items for the Tuesday meeting include:
■ A resolution directing county human resources to not add a cost-of-living adjustment for Commissioner Mike Chapman and to remove the car allowance and telephone stipend from Chapman’s benefit package.
■ Agreements with Serenity House of Clallam County for staffing housing resource centers and associated rental subsidies and for emergency shelter resources and associated support services.
■ Agreements with Healthy Families of Clallam County for case management and counseling services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse and neglect, as well as for mental health and advocacy services to domestic violence or sexual assault victims.
■ Agreement with Concerned Citizens for case management and rental assistance to clients in the West End.
■ An agreement with the state Department of Commerce for Growth Management Act updates.
■ A resolution establishing a position in support of a proposed $54 million Sequim School District bond.
Port of Port Angeles
The Port of Port Angeles commissioners will elect officers and discuss the commission meeting schedule and work session topics when they meet Tuesday.
Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. at port headquarters, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.
They will consider allocating $8,000 for travel to Paris for the JEC World 2016 Composites Show and Conference.
They will discuss compensation for the interim executive director.
After the meeting ends, commissioners will reconvene as the Industrial Development Corp. for the port and elect officers.
Sequim City Council
The Sequim City Council will hear a presentation on a possible reservoir when it meets Monday.
The council will meet at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.
A Dungeness River off-channel reservoir is being researched. The council will hear information during a study session.
It also will consider support of a proposed $54 million bond for the Sequim School District.
Forks City Council
The Forks City Council will swear in new members Juanita Weissenfels and Jon Preston when it meets Monday.
The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at 500 E. Division St.
The council also will hear a presentation on hydrogeologic/engineering findings.
It will consider action on a grant from the Department of Commerce for a Growth Management Act update and an interagency contract with the state Department of Corrections for jail services.
Port Angeles schools
The Port Angeles School Board will swear in Sandra Long as a new member when it meets Thursday.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. at the Central Services Building, 216 E. Fourth St.
Long was appointed to fill a vacant seat Thursday.
An agenda had not been posted as of Saturday.
Quillayute Valley schools
Quillayute Valley School Board members will consider accepting a grant for replacement of Spartan Field and discuss the district’s hiring process when it meets Tuesday.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the library at Forks High School, 261 Spartan Ave.
The $225,000 grant for the field replacement is from the state Recreation and Conservation Office.
The district’s hiring process will be discussed in light of a statewide teacher shortage.
The superintendent’s evaluation process also will be discussed.
Among items on the consent agenda is the nonrenewal of the contract with Joe Morton, high school girls soccer coach.
Clallam PUD
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a staff report on the district’s 2016 communications plan Monday.
The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.
District commissioners also will consider authorizing the disposal of surplus property, the removal of delinquent accounts and the ratification of a previous board action.
Clallam Conservation District
Clallam Conservation District commissioners will consider adopting a 2016 plan of work Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Suite H of Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.
Trust lands committee
The Clallam County Trust Lands Advisory Committee will hear a presentation from the state Department of Natural Resources on Clallam County trust lands and DNR trust management Friday.
The meeting will begin at noon in the commissioners’ meeting room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse.
