The three Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on a fireworks ordinance Tuesday.
The hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. or shortly thereafter in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
A section in the proposed ordinance would prohibit the possession, sale, transfer and discharge of consumer fireworks in unincorporated areas without a permit.
The cites of Port Angeles and Sequim already have banned consumer fireworks.
A second public hearing is scheduled on proposed amendments to the employee sick leave policy.
Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Action items include:
• A resolution authorizing action on climate change in Clallam County.
• A contract change order with McCoy Electric Company, Inc. for the courthouse Emergency Operations Center grounding and electrical switchboard improvement project.
• Two-year extensions to collective bargaining agreements with Teamsters Local 589 and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees 1619 MP, LC, D, CD, CS and S.
• Notice of a July 17 public hearing for a mid-year review of the county budget.
Commissioners will hold their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday to discuss general items or to preview items set for action in future meetings.
Discussion items include:
• An amended interlocal agreement with Kitsap, Jefferson and Mason counties and Kitsap Public Health Division for the Hood Canal regional septic loan program.
• Calls for bids for culvert replacement on the West Bluff Drive and Pearce and Marsden roads.
• A resolution calling for a special election to consider the establishment of a Sequim Library capital facility area.
• An update on the Shoreline Master Program.
An executive session to discuss pending litigation, Lee v. Winborn, is set from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday in the commissioners meeting room at the courthouse.
Port Angeles City Council
The City Council will consider Lodging Tax Advisory Committee appointments at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The business meeting will be in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
Other agenda items include proclamations in honor of Port Angeles High School career and technical education students and celebrating June as LGBTQ pride month.
The City Council will hold a special meeting at noon Thursday to host a webinar, “Encouraging Neighborhood-Compatible, Residential Infill Development.” The one-hour video is provided by the Municipal Research Services Center. The meeting in the council chambers is open to the public. No action will be taken.
At 10 a.m. Friday, the council will hold an exit conference with the state Auditor’s Office in the Jack Pittis Conference Room at City Hall.
Clallam Transit
The Clallam Transit board will discuss a draft comprehensive plan at 1 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be at the Clallam Transit System administration building, 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
Action agenda items include a travel policy resolution and a fuel procurement limit exception.
Public Utility District
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider authorizing the issuance and sale of electric system revenue bonds to finance capital improvements at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be in the Lake Crescent Boardroom at the Carlsborg main office at 104 Hooker Road.
Other agenda items include resolutions establishing the Energy Independence Act and the day, time and place of regular meetings.
Marine Resources
The Clallam County Marine Resources Committee will hear project updates on Olympia oyster restoration, forage fish monitoring and Elwha Beach stewardship at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear an update on safety when they meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.
A presentation by the OMC Auxiliary is planned, as well as discussion of the contract for the central sterile project.
Board of Health
The Clallam County Board of Health will discuss local authority to regulate tobacco, vaping and marijuana products at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
A public hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. on a proposal to prohibiting smoking on Clallam County property.
Sequim schools
The Sequim School Board will hear a presentation on central kitchen construction when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.
The board will meet at the district office at 503 N.Sequim Ave. An executive session is set from 5 p.m. to 5:50 to review the performance of a public employee; no action is to be taken.
The board also will consider final approval of a policy on collective bargaining.
Port Angeles schools
The Port Angeles School Board will consider final enrollment and projections when it meets st 7 p.m. Thursday.
The board will meet at the Lincoln Center, 905 W. Ninth St.
It also will consider the May financial report, the food service contract and hear a report on lunch prices.
Carlsborg council
The Carlsborg Community Advisory Council will discuss and review Chapter 33.53 Proposed Draft Landscape Ordinance when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The council will convene for the meeting at Greywolf Elementary School’s library, 171 Carlsborg Road, Carlsborg.
Also on the agenda is election of a chair and vice-chair, as well as an update about the Carlsborg sewer connection.
Planning Commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on proposed amendments to code compliance and Board of Health regulations Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
The proposed title amendments would create an administrative hearing process, repeal the citations chapter in its entirety and amend various chapters in both titles.
Clallam Fire District No. 3
Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will conduct a public hearing on a proposed levy lid lift when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Commissioners will meet at the district headquarters, 323 N. Fifth St.
Commissioners of the district, which covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County, are considering a proposal to increase the levy rate from $1.26 per $1,000 of assessed property value to $1.50 per $1,000.
